Both of those bulls are not "old". They have just reached their prime. Probably around 35 to 40 years old. I would welcome any comments on my opinion.

Yes, I was thinking the same this as I watched the video. Still.. some beautiful elephant, and some good hunting

You may well be correct. Reintroduction of ele hunting in Bots was premised on the need to address human animal conflict. Eles were encroaching on farms etc. and killing humans, so humans killed eles. Not sustainable. Hunting creates a value on the animal, provides food for locals, jobs etc. Concessions pump water which reduces the “wandering” and hence the conflict. I believe Botswana issues about 400 permits a few years ago to hunt eles. No females or young. This is miniscule in terms of the population. So age of bulls is not a criterion. One can disagree with this policy, but taking no action will surely see the demise of the elephants. (see Kenya experience) Hopefully Bots is monitoring the effects of this policy, and will adjust if necessary.

@@vereelliott6556 Hi Vere, Yes, I fully agree with the sustainable utilization of natural resources. As an African and a hunter, this is the only way that animals and their numbers will be sustained. If an animal does not have a financial value, sorry to say, it won't live in Africa.
