One of the best tricep exercises that you can do for packing on mass in the triceps is the Close Grip Bench Press. But an alternative, and even better tricep exercise (in my opinion) is the Close Grip Incline Bench Press.
The Close Grip Incline Bench Press will work your triceps from a greater range of motion compared to a close grip flat bench press. The reason for this is because your chest isn't as thick at the top as it is in the center, so you'll be able to bring your arms down lower. In addition to that your chest isn't as strong in an incline position, so your triceps will have to handle more of the workload.
You set up for the close grip incline bench press similar to how you would do a normal incline bench, but you'll grip the bar with a shoulder width grip. Literally space your hands the exact same width as your torso.
A common mistake that a lot of guys make when doing close grip bench presses is they grab the bar way too narrow and it places a lot of unnecessary strain on the wrist joint and it actually limits the amount of weight you can lift.
You are better off grabbing the barbell with a shoulder width grip and keeping your forearms and wrists in alignment. As you lower the barbell down to your chest, keep your elbows tucked in close to the sides of your torso and strive to press the bar with your forearms in a vertical plane of motion. Don't let your elbows flare out to the sides, purposely keep them tucked in the entire time to place the workload on the tricep muscles.
The Incline Bench Close Grip Bench Press is a mid-range compound exercise so you can work up to relatively heavy weights with this move. I suggest starting off with a couple progressively heavier warm up sets and then pyramid up to a heavy set of 6-8 reps.
Here's a sample Close Grip Incline Bench Press Workout:
(the first 2 sets are warm up sets)
Set 1 - empty barbell (45 pounds) x 10 reps
Set 2 - 65 pounds x 10 reps
Set 3 - 85 pounds x 10 reps
Set 4 - 105 pounds x 8 reps
Set 5 - 125 pounds x 6 reps
Note:
Your actual weights may be heavier or lighter depending on your individual strength, this is just an example.

Lee have you ever considered using dumbbells for this exercise instead. This allows me to vary the distance between my hands with no wrists issues. I find it also allows me to use a greater range of motion.

Hey nice video. I love doing this exercises but can you tell me what the difference between the close grip incline bench press and the regular close grip bench press is? and which exercise is it more likely to move up in weight?

I never even considered close grip bench on a incline until I saw Lee demonstrate it and his rationale. I am a believer now after doing it now for a few weeks.

Over the many years I have never tried close grip incline bench. Always preferred flat dumbbell tricep presses but I'll start giving this a go instead for a few months now that I am getting back into strength training again after I slipped a disc at work and had to wait for recovery
