Captain Luke's proper introduction in "Close Encounters of the Crabbing Kind | Episode 9 of Crabbers. On Memorial Weekend 2020, we run into this crabber & viral TikToker extraordinaire. At 24 years old, this young Captain puts many to shame in the hard work & dedication department. He discusses the beginning of his career & relationship with his "Crab Dad". The boys have a little fun while crabbing alongside each other as camaraderie abounds within Crabbers.

    Ive only ever done it recreationally, and we use completely different hardware, but there is somethin kinda special when you get a bunch of cousins or mates in the swing of things and get to haulin crab. Its a vibe. also, freshness is key, Im very spoilt in that 95% of the crab ive ever eaten has been caught right then. restaurant or supermarket stuff just isnt as good, hands down. go find a local dude and put your money in his palm. you will not regret it. or just go get em yourself. biggest crab I ever caught was in shin deep water with a peice of bent fencing wire.

    Oh hell yah. I just got the crab punisher in the water finally last labor day 2023 but she is a modified day sailor I salvaged off the shores of the Monocacy so very little room for the traps and I put them in the dingy. I would absolutely love to spend a day on miss Paula. @@FVMissPaula

    Blair, Hard oil, thats a good one. I assume that you have never seen a ships bilge before.😂 More like recycled tires used by the state for artificial reef construction to help the oyster industry.

    Well if it ain't hard oil and I'm pretty sure it's not tires because it breaks apart easily, then who knows what it is. Probably seen 30 pieces over the years. I'll have to save some and have it analyzed.

    It's more a combination of Creek water, Shrimp heads and Diesel fumes for my wife. That's the smell of money.

    Are you guys restricted to fishing certain areas? 🤔 like one boat throws this area and you can throw there? Or is it first come first serve type thing?

    We have to be in the Chesapeake Bay to fish pots but there are not set areas. It's first come first serve.

    We use hot water to clean the pots.

    Thats a steam tank that kills a lot of the alge growth so they can keep them a little cleaner before having to pressure wash them all at the end of each season.

    That's a million dollar question. Alot of people don't like to get females because they think it hurts the population even though we've proven it's not true. They don't typically get as big and most people like big crabs. Not truly sure why.
