The 501st are actually a non profit company that do star wars based charity work. George Lucas saw what they were doing and thats how the 501st came around👍

Going through all of your videos because I'm about to start my Captain Rex armor creation journey (first time doing anything like this, super nervous lmao), and yours is by far the best I've seen

It's pretty good. It gave some ideas for a set of armor I wanted to make.

Excellent video Mike, even for me. A lot of good info that I could take away from this. As I hope to get to building on my armor insanely soon and it helps to know these little tidbits. Suspenders, Velcro, where to implement it and such. Lol.

You can order sets but they have you paint and fit the armor to your body type and size

Pretty sure he got his armor from Imperial Surplus (look it up on google), but you could probably build it yourself

Three questions; First what do you recommend for the under suit. Second is what do you recommend for the Kama to be made out of. Third, is all the paint the same or do you recommend any specific brand or style?

I didnt think I wanted to be a clone because I'm a FAT boy. But then I saw your other videos and realized that with love and care I can make it work and look good and now I really want this kit. I loved this video! Thank you so much for this. I am currently trying to make my own armor for fun. I made one earlier out of an old hasbro Captain Rex helmet from the first three seasons of the clone wars and a storm trooper costume but now I’m trying to make my own legit armor. I would also like to join the 501st whenever I can but I want to have armor ready before I do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, Imperial Surplus does indeed sell just helmets. The Canadian Garrison has 163 members, its likely theres a member nearby somewhere. Best bet is to follow their FB or IG pages and see if they're going to be trooping near you at some point, and go for a chat :)

How did you get approved with your pauldron ammo pouch. The CRL specifically states it can't be leather/realistic

It doesn’t say that anywhere: Three black pouches are mounted at the right breast. The pouches have squared corners, and small closing flaps at the top, fastened with (1) snap per pouch. Closing flaps and snaps may be functional or decorative. Pouches are custom constructed for the costume. Real world functional pouches are not used.

That's badass dude! I can't wait to build mine! I do have a couple questions. 1 How do i join the 501st, and 2 do you have a Commander Appo clone in the 501st, and which know clones "heros" are in the 501st? So as to not duplicate a clone trooper.

Read here first: databank.501st.com/databank/Join_Us Then sign up for the detachment of the character you want to do. The "detachments" are the character-specific web sites we have set up where you can find armor vendors and all the info on how to put it all together. And stay FAR AWAY from Ebay, Amazon, Etsy or any other web site that claims to make approvable armor. Almost all are scams or sell complete junk. You want to stay away from buying completed/ mass produced costumes. Just about all, even the expensive officially licensed ones, are very inaccurate and very poor quality. Plus, hard armor is not "1 size fits all" and you want to build your costume to fit your body type. Often times our members will sell their old costumes they don't want anymore. If you go that route and buy one, you want to make sure that the seller is close to your body type. But even then, you might still have to make some modifications. Also, keep in mind that this is an expensive hobby. Expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $5,000 USD, depending on the costume.

Could you do a video showing how you made those leather pouches?

You should get one of those old toy microphones and install it in the helmet so it sounds like it does in the show.
