CLONE ASSASSIN TROOPERS - The Republic's Most RUTHLESS Clone Troopers

Clone Assassin Troopers were an elite group of Clone Troopers who were recruited by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine near the end of the Clone Wars, with the specific goal of eliminating Jedi opponents after the events of Order 66. These Assassin Clones were trained to defeat Jedi using a rare hand to hand combat technique, designed to exploit the weaknesses of force users. So who were the Clone Assassins, and why were they taken to the Jedi temple during Anakin’s slaughter of the younglings?
I’m going to break down exactly what the Clone Assassin division was and unique weaponry that they used.

Near the end of the Clone Wars, a new division of Clone Troopers was specially ordered and recruited by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, called the Clone Assassin Troopers. The assassin trooper division was created by Palpatine through legitimate legislation in the senate which was passed by a majority of senators, without question. Palpatine claimed that these assassin troopers were essential to protecting the Government of the Republic and the chancellor himself, in case the Jedi ever decided to Rebel against the Republic, or try to assassinate the Supreme chancellor. Yes, he literally said that in public, on the Senate floor. Because Palpatine was one of the most popular Chancellors the Republic had seen in quite some time through his continued success in the Clone Wars, the Senate were very happy to continue passing any legislation that he brought forward, regardless of the consequences. It’s actually crazy how open Palpatine was able to be with this division. The Jedi obviously weren’t too happy with the creation of the Clone Trooper Assassin division, but were forced to accept it as part of the structure of the Republic military or risk losing their political power, which of course was one of the major weaknesses of the Jedi order towards its end. Systems to eliminate members of military organizations should they go rogue or commit treason already existed in almost every other military in the Galaxy, so the Jedi also believed that this legislation was merely created to show the public that their elected leader, Palpatine was taking the steps necessary to ensure that the Jedi did not gain too much power. They never believed that these Clones would actually be used against them.
Once the Clone Assassin bill was passed, Palpatine initially only sent the Clone Assassin Troopers along with Covert Operations Troopers to assist in the killing of Clones who deserted the Grand Army of the Republic. They obviously weren’t authorised to eliminate any Jedi targets at this point, so Palpatine was forced to use them on clone defectors, political opponents and separatist leadership.
After the elite assassin division was created, Sidious and the Grand Army of the Republic leadership began to gear up the new breed of assassin troopers, making sure that they were equipped with the best possible armour and weaponry for their specific mission objectives. They were outfitted in the Standard Phase II clone armour with only some very slight modifications to make it easier for them to perform acrobatic maneuvers and advanced martial arts movements. The Clone Assassin Armour was usually a light blue and white color, but Some incredibly skilled and high ranking Clone Assassins also wore darker phase II armor, making them difficult to spot in fast paced hand to hand combat, which is of course what they specialized in. Unlike regular Clone Troopers, the Clone Assasins did not carry blasters as their primary weapons, instead carrying a highly enhanced vibro-blade in each arm, directly attached to their elbows. These vibro-blades extended the reach of the Clone Assassin using them, and significantly increased the lethality of the attacks. When not being used, the Assassin Trooper could fold the vibro-blade back into a neutral position, so that it would not obstruct any routine activities of the trooper. If the Clone Assassin ever found himself in a dangerous position, he could rapidly activate the vibroblades at only a moment's notice, sharply swinging them out and locking them into the attack position, before lunging at his opponent.

Would've been cool if Palpatine had the Republic maintain a stockpile of slugthrowers and then equipped the clones in the raid with them as they would've been pretty effective against lightsabers

That would have made a lot of sense, but Palpatine doesn't like to leave tracks that can connect him to his byzantine levels of intrigue and conspiracy. I think Palpatine probably realized that Clone Troopers who had served in the Clone Wars might be witnesses to before and after, and might start to be interviewed by people trying to connect the dots. The Clones were elite warriors that were value-able, but Palpatine also wanted them dead or out of the way to tie up loose ends. The only difference between Legends and Canon is that in Legends the Empire slowly weaned itself off of total clone dependency between the trilogies, so that by the time of A New Hope, most Clone Troopers were in Vader's Fist, while in Canon after order 66 the newly christined Empire immediately cut off clone trooper production after "one more batch" and started recruiting humans to replace the clones. So Palpatine probably wanted people to forget about how slug throwers could've made killing Jedi easier...cuz if it makes killing Jedi easier, it could also mean making killing Sith or Inquisitors easier.....

BuildUp lowkey that comic doesn’t make sense. I liked it up until we find out Luke has never heard of order 66 and it’s after the empire strikes back. That’s three years with the Rebel Alliance and no one told the supposed Jedi in training what happened to the Jedi
It's sad that we don't see them in Star Wars the Clone Wars to see their skills.

Would've been cool to see Obi Wan and Yoda fight the assassins, would've made for an amazing fight scene
It would be cool if some of these CATs showed up in games like Fallen Order. It would bridge some continuity. Even if they just showed up in the main character's flash back to when he was a kid surviving Order 66, that would be cool. I understand by the events of Fallen Order, most of the clones would have either died or been phased out due to old age and the Empire trying to wean itself off of clones, being replaced by Purge Troopers. Still, it would have been nice to see some in the flash back, perhaps fighting a few, and maybe a sub boss or mini boss would have been an old Veteran of the Order 66 CATs leading the Purge Troopers and helping the Inquisitors. There's a lot of stuff from Star Wars content that may not be the best but can be salvaged and grafted on to something better, creating a tide that raises all ships. The Episode 3 game from EA didn't get the highest reviews, but some of those ideas are cool, and could be translated over to something else. If nothing else, all the interesting variants from Ep 3 game by EA would make good classes in the next Star Wars Battle Front, as well as enemy types in another game like Fallen Order or another shooter like Republic Commando or Jedi Outcast/Dark Forces (a sequel or spiritual successor, I mean). Yeah, I think it would be neat for the trooper and droid types we saw in EA's Ep 3 and The Force Unleashed to be used as classes in another Battlefront or allies/enemies in a game like Fallen Order and Republic Commando (or rather their successors). So that we don't get bogged down by too many enemy types, some of these could be upgrades to classes. For instance, some of these Clone Assassin Troopers carried Sniper rifles and back up Pistols, correct? Well, this could be an upgrade for the class in a game like Battlefront. This would be neat as a level up mechanic in the game, where you could level up your faction by being able to train upgraded/advanced versions of your original classes. The Assassin trooper would be one spec tree, at least, of the clone sniper trooper.
Pretty much every division in the GAR is "elite", even the janitor corps..

Shadow Troopers had the best armor due being able to attach disguise armor plates to their armor an change their appearance.
These clone assassins are so awesome and skilled i wish they were still canon.

Their one of my favorite clone troopers, wish that I would see them in action more or in the clone wars series.
Now imagine if those vibro blades were given to the commando droids-
One of my favorite clone trooper there have a realy cool design, i remenber when i was playing episode 3 game i fail like 2-3 time before kill them is sad then not cannon anymore.
I feel like we have a lot of types of things trying to kill jedi's, uhh vader, inquisitors, yada yada... and now these?
I remember on the first time I ever saw these guys it was in the Star wars revenge of the set video game my cousin had he lent it to me and when I did the return to the Jedi Temple where Obi-Wan Kenobi and the secret bonus level for Yoda I had to face off at these guys in the final level it was very intense they were difficult but yeah I won.

i made my own verison of clones who were part of the assiassin trropers but they have black shock trooper armour most with barc and arf helments . there main weapoins is the E-11 blastor prototype and official type , lightsader like blades that are gray , vidruim blades, DC blastors
