Clogging even led to construction was just because of this?

Due to the repeated cloggage and overflow, they even had to construction.
But what we found out all happened because of this one small thing.

What I noticed from watching many drain unclogging videos from many countries, the Korean customers are very generous and kind to the plumbers. They offer drinks and food after each jobs.

Why is the plumbing in S. Korea so bad? Is it because so much of the existing infrastructure is so old or is it due to lax building regulations? It seems like a ton of times there are reverse or flat grades, all kinds of odd connections, etc...

Same as everywhere. When the construction companies can get away with it, they will get you only such shoddy workmanship. Especially if they can get away with it and safe some money in the actual construction by not taking care and do it right. And at the time those pipes go in, I would think it should be only a matter of minutes getting the slope right. Not sure about inspections. Either they have none, the inspection routines are insufficient (if the pipe does not leak it has to be ok) or again, someone may make some extra money by keeping his eyes shut... So same as everywhere. But also, if the well built buildings just do not clogg that easy just because they are well built, the picture shown in the videos may not be very accurate. When they under normal circumstances do not clogg, they will normale a video. Or the plumbing is fine and someone just dumped loads of grease on top of wet wipes, hair and other objects unsuitable for being flushed. So just seeing bad workmanship in the videos (and they showed quite a few cases of that) does not mean it is generally that bad in Korea as we do not know if they have auch a situation in for example one out of 50 or maybe one out of 1000 buildings.

@@alexanderkupke920 well said. Only the bad ones are on video making it appear a lot but considering how many jobs can be done per day/week/month it is not that bad.

There's not really anyone to blame; plumbers themselves have deadlines, as do the construction workers and both their superiors as wel as theirs. If you want to blame something, blame time for being valuable.

I don't suppose the plumbers are called out for buildings with good drains! And of course, there is bad plumbing everywhere, especially in older buildings. I've had plumbers into my recently renovated place - although everything is working as it should now; I think it was basically the classic "someone put grease down the drains instead of in the garbage" problem. I knew of one older building in which the plumbing problems were finally solved when they dug up the pipe leading to the city line (having to first removed some concrete steps that had been built on top of it). The people who originally built the place had found a large boulder right where they wanted to put the pipe. Instead of digging it out, they somehow scooped a space underneath part of it and pushed the pipe through. It worked, too, until the boulder gradually started to shift downwards as the ground settled and shifted.
