There is alot of cast iron/clay pipes that are over 50 years old there, so yeah. Roots always find their way into the joints (bell & spigot) of clay pipes for some reason.

Is there a plug I can use to put on the check valve? My check valve screws rusted off and the cover is no longer water seal tight anymore.

Yes I'm sure, just replace the rubber gasket and the bolts

Lol I get that a lot. They were actually purchased like that, it has little Rock like pvc chips on them that provides grip and protection at the same time, without twisting my hand on the spinning cable.

Be better to dump oil into trash ?
