I don't think I've ever seen a u-trap like that on the main line going out of the house, is that a New York thing? What's the reasoning for it? It always seems like there is a clog in the U trap (meaning only one of the ports is under pressure), why is that? And there is usually a separate clog upstream of the trap.

It's code in NY, and it prevents gas, smells, and rodents from coming back into the house. It prevents larger clogs from getting further down the line.

Drain cleaners in NY: - open the two caps, break if needed - let backwater flow from one opening to the other - insert snake to clean and remove some debris from trap - close with new caps Why is it more complicated everywhere else?

In the Cellar the Floor stand under Water. The Toilet full with Paper or Wet's?? The Bathtub too full. To clearing, open on the Drain, too a flood Souce with Wet's come out. You clear with the Twist Drill the Drain. Good Work however. Greeting from Austria. 👍👌

do an experiment at home. Using a bowl of water, dunk a paper towel 10 times and dunk some TP 10 times and see what happens. I bet you can't dunk the TP twice before it shreds.

Paper towels are thicker and can absorb more water without falling apart when you wipe your hands dry or clean up a spill, unlike toilet paper grabbing them with a wet hand/finger, falls apart instantly.😉

@@NYDRAINS this isn’t surprising to me. We have a toilet in our basement and it clogged up in the shower. It wasn’t….that fresh in the video haha. This was years of backup. I have not pooped in that toilet since then. I think it was because of the route of how the pipes were laid out. Or something like that 🧐
