ABSOLUTELY!! I had to move one of those things out of the way a week ago when I was renting a drywall lift from Home depot, I had no idea they were that heavy until I grabbed it to just tilt it back and wheel it a few feet... I was STUNNED at how heavy it was!

You really got taken over the hurdles on this job getting the machine in there. If I was doing that job the customer would have gotten $49.95'd all the way to the poorhouse just to get the machine in that dungeon. $49.95 for the stairs and $49.95 per obstruction in addition to the $49.95 for the clog. He won't be shopping in the baby wipe isle at the grocery store anymore for sure.

if you thought those were plastic caps... I don't want to use or be within 1000 miles of anything you've engineered! 🤣🤣 the first cap(right) looked cast iron with a thick lead outer ring/threads(universal fit), the second cap(left) was an all cast iron cap, in which someone worked hard in the past to get it installed and sealed(blue pipe dope). typically the threads are very galled and would need a pipe tap or thread chaser ran afterwards to allow an standard cap again, hence the thick lead ring universal caps, they'll fit most anything, threaded or beaten in, the lead conforms to the old cast hole/bad threads and will seal well. There was not a plastic cap in sight on the whole video. 😉 I'm not being mean, just poking fun and helping you improve(hopefully)

This video reminded me of some old soviet toilets I have seen as a plumber here in Lithuania, where the toilet has been in use since 1960s and because of the very hard water, the toilet chute is so chocked up with limescale that there is only a small 40 millimeter size hole in the middle of the chute where shit almost can't even pass trough. The inside of the cast iron lines are a bit better because of the much bigger water flow from all the apartments in the one apartment building combined drain into this one line by design.

@@NYDRAINS Hello Donald; I do the same kind of business as you do, up here in Connecticut I also have customers with crawl spaces and places that suck to bring a machine so I also have a Milwaukee handheld cordless power auger, which I think you might want to look into because you can carry it all in your hand as I t comes in a bucket with a handle. It is great for jobs like that. The only drawback is the biggest line is 3/8 of an inch and its maximum length with 3/8 is 35 feet but 97% of the time I can get my clogs with this machine, instead of lugging down my power auger with the thicker and longer cable. I’m just letting one professional/tradesmen know of a better way without killing yourself if you can help it, especially lugging that Spartan (a.k.a. “the boat anchor”) up and down a staircase and as we both know some of these stairs really are sketchy at best as there’s been times when I’ve had the wood cracking under the weight of me and the machine. I am 277 pounds at 6 foot 1 so getting into some of these crawl spaces is not fun or easy! Another very good advantage is that because it is battery powered I don’t have to go looking for a working receptacle/power outlet! Hope to see you using that Milwaukee in future videos, hopefully soon, try it you’ll definitely like it! Best of luck in all of your jobs. Law makers: let's require a trap and two clean out ports where the building's plumbing meets the public sewers. Also law makers: nah, no need to require easy access to the trap. In can be placed anywhere from under a piano in a finished room to a low crawlspace with zero ventilation, uneven dirt floor, and a miniscule entry port. 😮

Some people don't like being watched while they work. In your case they can see what it takes to clear their drain. Maybe get whiff of the smell, the worst old soap scum and grease from a kitchen drain for me.

Great job Donald. Watch out lifting when your back is already bent over. Disc in the vertebrae are in a bad place already so when you lift something heavy like that machine the pressure pushes the disc through the gap you have made. Your a great worker Donald and I have the solution. Get a producer to make a comedy like “CHEERS” ! You will be Norm naturally. Do it Donald…, you’ll be rich and famous with with beautiful women on each arm. Instead of the bar being named cheers name it “WIPES” or “CHUGS” I’m sure all of your fans can come up with a great name 😂🤣🎉😊 🎶where everybody knows your name! 🎼

Great work Donald! (As always) I noticed around 10:35 you had the claw spinning stationary in the U-Bend for quite some time and I remember you mentioned previously there is a risk it could cause damage which is why you don’t favour it. Was it because the pipe looks in good enough condition you felt it would hold and mulch up the wipes trapped?

There is always a chance of breaking or cracking the old trap, which has happened in the past, by forcing the stiff cable and blade through the trap. This house was built in the 1890s.

if you have to use wipes a sure fire way to see if they are flushable is to put a wipe in a container of water for 24 hours if it has dissolved it's flushable, but it keeps its' shape and durability than it's not. or you could just use TP like everyone else.

Brother are you kidding me? Save you some time, After you pop the first cleanout run a 6ft closet auger through the outlet then turn it around and run it back up the U. Once it's flowing use a short flex cable with chain head if you want to descale. I make my own with old snake end in poly-tube, connect it to a battery drill, set clutch low. Shit you can still use a C- cutter if you want. 1 guy and the whole set-up might be 25lbs.
