Mouloud rencontre Travi$ à Paris, dans une chambre d’hôtel surplombant la ville. Il commence l’interview en lui offrant un classique de la littérature française, “J’irai cracher sur vos tombes” de Vernon Sullivan (pseudonyme de Boris Vian).
“Tu as fait une chanson “I piss on your grave” (Je pisse sur ta tombe, ndlr) tu as un point commun avec cet écrivain”
Travi$ : “Je vais me renseigner sur ce mec, c’est dingue !”
Mouloud : “Le message de ton album Rodeo c’est être compris et faire tomber les barrières…”
Travi$ : “J’ai fait cet album comme un modèle pour les enfants qui veulent devenir comme moi.”
Mouloud : “Quand on fait du rodéo, on veut contrôler la bête. Toi, qu’est ce que tu veux contrôler ?”
Travi$ : “La bête intérieure de l’enfance. Comme quelqu’un qui serait incompris qu’on prendrait pour un connard, alors que je veux donner la pêche, que les gens s’éclatent. J’ai l’impression que Dieu m’a mis là pour aider les gens. Tu écoutes de la musique pour surmonter tes problèmes.”
Mouloud : “Et c’est le meilleur antidote contre ce que tu appelles les faux militants qui ont manifesté à Ferguson.”
Travi$ : “Je ne me mêle pas trop de politique, c’est trop chelou. Mais le samedi d’après, est-ce que ces connards étaient toujours a Ferguson ? Je ne pense pas. Mais par contre les maisons des Noirs brûlaient toujours.”
Mouloud : “J’ai l’impression que tu apportes quelque chose de plus au hip-hop, avec ça tu fais de la pop et du rock.”
Travi$ : “C’est bien pour les gens comme moi, Young Thug et Kid Cudi, Kurt Cobain, les gens qui veulent rester vrais. Je me considère pas comme un rappeur, j’ai pas envie d’être mis dans cette case.”
Mouloud : “Qu’est-ce qu’il se passe dans ta tête quand tu es sur scène ?”
Travi$ : “Le chaos, mec. C’est extrême. Je vois un rassemblement d’individus, qui sont jeunes, vieux et de les voir pendant 30 minutes se lâcher, il n’y a rien de mieux. C’est mieux que n’importe quelle drogue ou n’importe quelle chatte. C’est comme sauver la vie de quelqu’un. Je ne le fais pas pour l’argent ni pour la gloire, ni même pour Wikipedia.”
Mouloud : “Tu as fait une chanson sur le porno
Travis$ : “Le porno c’est incroyable, c’est très bon, c’est frais. Le premier grand réalisateur qui fera un porno pour internet, ce sera super cool. Mon premier porno était sur VHS. Maintenant, je tape “gros culs” dans la barre de recherche.”
Mouloud : “Pour Antidote, comment est-ce que tu as trouvé la mélodie ?”
Travi$ : “Si je te racontais toute l’histoire de la création d’ ”Antidote” et de “Impossible”, tu hallucinerais. J’étais a la bourre, c’était la merde. Je me suis retrouvé seul pendant 2 semaines. Je restais en studio et c’est venu. J’ai fait tout ça en une seule prise. On a fait un concert à Dallas et je l’ai chantée pour la première fois, c’était complètement dingue. Elle était même pas censée être sur mon album.”
Mouloud : “Parfois on voit des artistes en tournée, ils sont crevés. Toi tu es heureux ! Qu’est ce qui te rend si heureux ?”
Travi$ : “Je suis en bonne santé, j’ai mes parents, mes potes sont là, je suis à Paris.”
Mouloud : “C’est comment de travailler avec Kanye ? ”
Travi$ : “C’est un mec génial, j’apprends beaucoup avec lui. C’est comme une recette il t’apprend a composer, a faire de la musique.”
Mouloud : “Quand tu mixes un morceau, qu’est ce qui te prend le plus de temps ?”
Travi$ : “La batterie ! Le reste je m’en tape, t’entends ! Fous pas en l’air la batterie.”
Mouloud : “Pour toi, c’est quoi la définition de “Clique” ?”
Travi$ : “Un groupe de gens qui te tire vers le haut et te pousse à t’améliorer. Ils reflètent parfaitement qui tu es. C’est ça une clique. C’est tout ce qui compte.”

El nahhh, Travis is clearly more comfortable in this interview than the Nardwuar one. You can tell by the way he’s speaking and his body language. He seems chill in this interview and he’s opening up rather than stuttering and being nervous like he is in the Nardwuar interview.

Mouloud you such a fantastic interviewer man, it's amazing how you get guys like young thug and Travis who don't normally talk much to interviewers to open up.
I love this interview so much. I'm so glad every question was based upon getting to know him as a person and the MUSIC. none of that other shit that other interviewers ask that we don't even care about. we wanna know exactly where the inspiration came from behind the tracks/album and that's exactly what you were asking. great great interview :)

the way he didnt even bother asking about riri and focused on travis' craft was a win
mouloud arrive toujours a faire en sorte que ses invité sois decontracté, a l'aise , il y a une complicité qui s'instaure en quelle que sorte . les questions juste. un sujet z puis un x et il re-bascule sur le z sans casser le rythme de l'l'interview. c'est vraiment bien les guest ce sentent pas pris au piège avec des question déplacé ou bateau . force a Clique rester comme vous êtes avec beaucoup plus d'abonné .

Je viens de retomber sur cette interview est je pense que c’est la meilleure de Travis bravo Mouloud pour cette interview de qualité, 4 ans après ses propos font vraiment sens dans la tournure que Travis a prit !
