Clipping Point - James `The Machine' Deane - 2021
The feature length documentary film released in 2021 finds its home on KZread.
The production team and myself would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this film possible. That means you guys that paid to watch this film, it allowed us to recoup some of the expense that goes into making projects like this. Without that possibility, projects like this would never be made. So thank you once again for supporting this film.
Champion drifter James Deane is set to make history in the US championship Formula Drift, attempting to win the championship three times in a row. Derailed by unsuspected obstacles, perspectives shift as he fights to stay on the track.

If you like the film, please go and let us know what you think on IMDB. We were incredibly grateful to learn that people loved the film upon its release. If there's room in the future to look at doing more projects, that's how we know you the audience liked what you saw. It means we can take that information to production companies, develop funding opportunities and hopefully make more films like this.

Glad to hear the drivers like it, I came at this from a variety of different angles. I want to bring new fans to the sport and have it digestible but James's legacy in the sport is irrefutable, so I didn't want the fans and drivers to not get anything out of it. Enjoy prospec, that's awesome that you're out there doing it. Hope to see you out there in the big show one day! Keep the dream alive. Thanks for checking out the movie.
I began to get obsessed in Drifting because of this guy. Huge appreciation to the film makers and everyone who was part of this. This means so much to people like me ♥

I REALLY gotta say, this was a beautifully crafted, motivating Documentary, been watching drifting since 2017 and have been a fan of James for just as long, this really went deep behind the scenes and showed moments that are usually not seen if you just watch the event livestreams or vlogs of these drivers. Wow, just wow! I absolutely love this film, just finished watching. I find myself deeply relating to him and this film just makes me want to pursue my drifting passion even more, even though it’s tough for my right now! When James said he wants to give someone the “opportunity” in the upcoming years, It would be my absolute dream for that person to be me and I am going to PROVE why I’m a worthy person!
What a movie! Great job

This is outstanding, well done! This man is potentially one of Ireland's most successful sportspeople and is never mentioned as such. Like a lot of you in the comments are saying I too wouldn't be a drift fan of it wasn't for James Deane. He used to share the drift streams on FB and after watching them I was hooked.

That would be the dream. Luke is a good friend and has a fantastic family. I’d love to get to know Daigo Saito’s story as well, always loved his style and his cars are from a different planet. Getting these things off the ground takes a different level of commitment though. Never say never but this film took 3 years to make and only for the fact that BC Racing came in and helped out with some expenses (when we were already half way through) this film would have never been finished. Netflix et al., would never back something like this unfortunately. It would have to be a private individual backing the project or some kind of crowd funding. I wanted to crowd fund this but no one was interested. I took it to multiple production companies and producers during the filming process and nothing came of any of it. In mainstream media world, no one gives a shit about drifting unless it’s a game show or there was some kind of overly dramatic tragedy that would make it a more widespread story. Like if James turned out to be the owner of the mafia to fund his drifting, he gets gunned down before making it to the last event of the season and he never fulfils his destiny. Now you’ve got a story they’d be interested in 😂
Bravo💯🔥

So i bought it on vimeo….. “all these years of academy training wasted.”
An amazing job! Josh, i have to ask, here in brazil i am an drift driver and announcer (also i create content for youtube). I want to ask to you if i can do an react of this piece in livestream translating for our Brazilian drift community. I have a lot of people, subscribers, drivers, team members asking me to do this, to know the history of the legend James Deane. So now, after you posted this opened here in youtube, can i realize this idea? I never do this before, cause i know this piece of art (and work) its an ppv movie, so for the respect i have to James and the team who make this, i never did it. (Cause its wrong). Now, today, what you think? Can i do this? Can i have this permission? Can i react and translate this piece of art and amazing history for our drift community here in Brazil?

I appreciate the courtesy and respect in asking. The whole point in putting this out on KZread was so that people could see it. Of course as long as you make it clear what you’re doing as an introduction to the clip, then please go ahead. I wouldn’t want KZread taking it down. Thank you again for the respect in asking permission. Much love to the Brazilian drift community. I hope to visit one day! I’m sorry we couldn’t afford to do translations and subtitles in other languages. All the best.

Can someone explain what that backstory was with Daren and homeland security and getting back to comp in the US? I have watched this doc a hand full and can’t grasp what this was about.
@joshallendirector
7 күн бұрын
@@SaleenDrift To work in the US, don’t quote me on this, non US citizens need a relevant visa. Darren wasn’t necessarily working for the team as far as I know, certainly not in any full time capacity but homeland security thought otherwise and because he was spotting for James on the event in question, they deemed this as working. From memory he had corresponding texts on his phone, that was good enough for them to turn him down. He just didn’t have the right visa as far as they were concerned basically. Darren obviously competed in years prior and he would have had the correct visa once upon a time. It was all a bit last minute. He wasn’t trying to get away with anything as far as I understand. Make sense?
oh, that makes me feel so much better about having paid for it. next time I'll just wait. or pirate it .

Do you need a hug? Myself and the team are (and this is sincere) unbelievably grateful to everyone that paid for the film. It’s people like you that mean we would even consider doing a project like this again. To scratch the surface. The film actually cost £200 a year just to host on Vimeo on demand and provide a platform to charge. So that you can even begin to stand a chance at recouping some of the massive expenditure. They also take around 25% of what good people like yourself paid. That’s without getting into the three years it took to make this film. Including the year that was 2020, where myself and my wife were unable to secure work for months on end. We actually lost our house. If it wasn’t for the contributions from BC Racing and Falken (a very small amount) this film would never have even been finished. For what was ultimately a project that didn’t make any money at all. It stands to reason that if you added up all the hours that went into it, it’s balance sheet would read minus £250,000 or thereabouts. Just some food for thought. If you still feel the same way, then please accept apologies from everyone involved. Once again, thank you for contributing. The decision to put this film out was not taken lightly but by all means, if you still have objections. I will do my best to rectify your concerns.

@@joshallendirector That's all good and well and has basically nothing to do with my point. We paid (gladly as far as I'm concerned) to watch it. Anyone can see that it is "expensive" for what it is in the grand scheme of things, comparing to the normal price of videos and that is ok because we were in for a special thing. Now, I doubt any of the people who paid for it had anything to do with your personal conditions and I'm pretty sure a lot were also heavily affected by the pandemic. Saying that, you're now giving it to anyone for free and that is not going to make you any further money, is it? So while there was no wrongdoing towards you, definitely not by those who paid, we can now see that our purchase was unnecessary.
