Yes but that 200kg gives you a much better chassis and better brakes and it still has similar performance. I loved my 172 cup but the mk3's Road holding is definitely an improvement.

From being the best in the world at building hot hatches Renault now lag behind because they started making Clio to heavy on not up the bhp enough the 200 is crying out for a turbo that would of then got the 0-60 to around the 6 sec mark and a 150 top end sorted.

You clearly have no idea where they are aiming for, the 197/200 are one of the hest clio’s ever pure for there insane cornering, its all you need for a hothatch on a twisty road, plenty of power but just so much grip, no wonder it is faster then every other clio around a twisty track.

@@idiotsandwich6727 I’ll tell you what I do know the next generation hot hatch should be a least as fast as its predecessor not slower that’s not very good evolution in my book.

@@Robcatist clio 3 is faster than clio 2 and 4 rs on nordschleife because its just a better handling car, every car has its own character but sometimes due to cost it wont be as good as its predecessor

@@Robcatist It's a faster car in every metric other than being ever so slightly slower in a dead straight line. It's more composed, has much more grip and has much better brakes. All while being more comfortable. If all you care about is going fast in a straight line then RenaultSport is not for you.

Seen some of these where Clio 2 RS beats 3rd generation.

Power to weight is not the only factor here. If it was, the 182 would be disproportionately faster at lower speeds. This is the opposite to what actually happened - the 182 started to walk away top end. The explanation is simple - aerodynamics. The 3rs is a bigger car and therefore suffers from greater drag which is more pronounced as speed increases. power to weight is Important but not what it’s “all about”

Clio II is smaller and lighter.

@@bufbis2340 Avec tout le respect que je vous dois, c'est vous qui devez vous informer. Aucune Clio 3 RS ne sort la puissance annoncée par le constructeur. De plus, ces moteurs ont fâcheuse tendance à perdre des chevaux avec les années. Je réitère, une Clio 3 RS ne sort pas plus de 185 CV d'origine, soit pas plus de 136 kW. Bonne soirée!

@@nvl2691 Donc, si je suis votre raisonnement , Renault Sport trompe délibérément ses clients, il s'agit ainsi d'une fraude que vous voulez dénoncer . D'accord, quelles sont vos sources, vos preuves ? J'ai eu 3 Renault Sport ( clio 2, mégane 2 et mégane 3 ) je n'ai jamais entendu parler de fraude !

Always Clio 2 even the one with 172hp are faster than Clio's 3 with 200hp just because they are almost 200 kilos lighter
