These lyrics perfectly reflect what just happened to me. After recently being broken up with I tried so hard to go out of my way and make this work. It hurt so much not finding a compromise with her and her just denying to even give me the respect of telling me why. I tried my best for us but it still wasn’t enough. I thought I found a reason as to why people say love is beautiful and for a moment I genuinely believed that she was “the one”. It hurts so much seeing how fast things changed, just a couple days ago we would talk about our love for eachother, making playful fun of eachother, and laughing. To suddenly stop everything after all the promises of love and intimacy really is so painful, what hurts the most is that you continue to try and talk to me only to be vague and not answer the question as to why? I just started crying when he started to sang the second verse. when he said "I've been hurting myself to keep you from leaving" I can relate so hard because my friend and I kind of became distance and I've been thinking so much, and how I've been trying to change myself to be excepted instead of being called "weird" or "creepy", by him or his friends. And I still struggle with it to this day. Even the guy I'm interested in who I have never spoken to, thinks I'm creepy and I never get why... it's been going on for 2 years.

This is what perfection sounds like. I don't how but Clinton, I'm gonna make a song with you one day. Fore sure!!!

This song perfectly describes my last relationship. I would put myself through endless hell just so I could make the other party happy and it absolutely killed me every single day we were together. He wasn't a terrible person but at the same time whenever we had even a small argument, he had to make it big and he had to make me the bad guy and it happened like- every other week. It was so mentally exhausting, and I thought sticking around was me proving that I cared about him, but he was in just as much pain as I was. Letting him go was the best decision I made throughout that whole relationship. I hope he is doing well.
