I like how the doctor did not seek to embarrass her; rather, he gave, suggestively and gently, the very answers to the questions he was asking her, without giving room for her possible lack of good/correct answers to surface. That way, the student LEARNED what she needed to learn without first being "exposed" for what she didn't know

Agree , unfortunately some doctors expect from you know everything so why you are a program director of a board recedency if you not teach well
Terrific teaching doctor. Very patient and helps with looking at the big picture but makes sure the student understands specifics. Trust me teaching doctors are not all like this..

The difference between her nervousness and his calm is equal to the decades of training and practice he probably has on her. So we probably won't get that for a long time! haha

Exactly! It is really intimidating to present to attendings, since you want to prove to be competent. The reality is you are still a student at that stage. The attending understands that and as long as you are willing to learn and are humble, he will help you. Very nice to see the attending so calm this way.

Gosh I need to shake my fear of questions . I got sweaty every time he asked a question yet I had the answer on my tongue 😂😂😂😂 great presentation .. made me realize I gotta work up my confidence
Wow! What an amazing teacher the head doctor is! He’s so patient and calm. I wish I’d had a teacher like him in nursing school.

I’ve known a few doctors who are callous, egotistical, and have endangered lives with ill regard for consequences. Just like with any profession, they are still only human.
I’ve been a nurse for 50 years. The student did a very good PE and presented the case well. The attending was excellent.

Very confident presentation
That was incredible presentation.
she is so smart..
he had a comforting presence. many of my professors have an egotistical attitude in responding to my questions and answers, but this instructor was very patient, understanding, nonjudgmental... and also picked up in areas where the student was struggling to answer....sigh. I'm a nurse practitioner student and I wish medical doctors, not doctorate nurses, taught most of the core classes, including but not limited to studies of pathophysiology, pharmacology, differential diagnoses, and primary care....sigh...

Oxygen is not a primary intervention in SCD because of the stagnant microcirculation. IV hydration, however is useful.
