You've got a teaching gift. Simple, super clear, done cheerfully, humbly - thank you - wondered about this forever
You, sir, have a lovely speaking voice!
Absolute clarity, I love it.
He explains this so well. It really helped me, a new guy to playing a musical instrument. In my case, a trumpet. I'm trying to play "The Way You Look Tonight" and with this gentleman's help I now UNDERSTAND the sheet music.
Your teaching is top notch, I understand actually what I had forgotten as a kid many years ago. Thanks for your clear and detailed instructions.
Thankyou Music Theory Guy! Listening to your video about del segno & al coda refreshed and clarified their use for me so much more quickly than having to look up my old music theory books again - and you explained them with much more clarity. Excellent presentation, and again, Thank you.
05/24/2024 Thank you MusicTheoryGuy for this lesson. I have been struggling with this series of Dc. and D.S. al Fine, al Coda instructions. Your active/progressive diagram with the two colour completion actions has cleared all this up for me. I finally made sense of the circle of fifths and fourths and the dichotomy of key references/scale key note references and how to calculate the progression ladder of sharps and flats in ascending order.
Excellent tutorial well explained thank you for taking the time and posting.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I was trying to find out what D.C. Al Coda was, but this is the only video that I found VERY helpful THANK YOU!!!!!

Fantastic explanation! The way you explained it with the empty bars and the two different colours was very clever and crystal clear. Thank you so much!

Hello, many thanks for your help with D.C & D.S coda clinic video. I'm 80 years old and just learning to play piano and things get a little slower at my age but you're tutorial was really clear and precise, just what I needed thank you so much for your help. Now I have found your site I'm sure I will be a regular viewer.Kind regards Jack Bowen.
The graphics are outstanding - simple and to the point. Your videos are far superior to anything else on this subject on KZread. Thanks!
Very helpful all these years later. Thank you!
You're gifted for sure! That was such an easy to understand lesson!
You're a very good teacher. Your explanation and diagrams simplifies and clarifies any misunderstanding one may have on a particular topic. Thanks for sharing!
Haven't played violin in years, and wanted to play some of the music I still have, and this helped a lot. Thanks
This is an excellent explanation of DC and DS al Coda. Well done.
The run through of the song really helped me! Thanks!
You taught me exactly what I needed to know. Thank you!
That was simply explained. The colors helped a lot. Thanks.
This was wonderful! Thank you so kindly! I'm a "music teacher" with not college education. I've studied music on my own for years and have been teaching guitar and piano for years, but in a fairly unconventional way. Lots of memorization of shapes and sounds and feelings. I decided it was time to really focus on teaching kids how to read music and sharpen my abilities as well. One kid had a teacher who left and she was given to me. She already had sheet music, which was easy enough for me to understand...but when it came to the Coda and she was like...what do I do here? I was like umm...lets listen to the real song and see what they do! I discovered that I needed to learn this new fact and found lots of confusing info. This made it perfectly clear and concise and I thank you, like and subscribe! Can't wait to learn more so I can teach better! Thank you!
You're a great teacher, clear and concise. Keep it up!
This is excellent. Makes it so, so clear.
Ok, playing Walking in Memphis right now on violin, and it contains 2 Codas with D.S. and D.C. I've been home sick for a bit, and I've missed my last couple of lessons with my instructor, so this video has been instrumental, no pun intended, in helping me figure out the order in which to play this song. Thanks for the clarification!
super clear!! thankyou, it helps me soooo much.I have an exam tomorrow, with this video I can easily understand it
Thank you Sir. It was very well explained through through your clock and symbols shown in the video.. My heartiest congratulations!!

Thank you. This made it very clear and I can plan my music as intended. I appreciate your video!

Thanks for this clear visual explanation.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!!. Appreciate it greatly!!
Thank you. You are a very good teacher.
Fantastic! Very clear, thank you!
I finally get it!! Thank you so much
“Da Capo” literally means “from the top.” That always reminds me of hearing “take it from the top” during aerobic exercise! (Therefore, that means to repeat the beginning of that portion of the workout!) As for “Dal Segno,” I think “Il Segno” is supposed to be a combination of the “repeat the previous measure” symbol and the letter “S” which probably stands for “Segno.”
Thank you very much for the video, very clear teaching instruction!
THANK YOU!! MY GOD THIS FINALLY MAKES SENSE NOW

Very helpful, very clear, many thanks for your help.
Excellent explanation. Thank you!
This is fantastic! Thankyou.
Thank you very much. This was very helpful tutorial.
Your lesson is really well done. I just want to clarify that the "gn" sound in "del segno", is not supposed to be pronounced like "g" and "n" separately but like a single sound that maybe doesn't exist in English and it is similar to the "ñ" sound in the Spanish word "señor" (e.g.). I know it for sure because I am Italian.

Desiree1176 Oh dear! This isn't the first time I've been advised/laughed-at/told-off/etc. when it comes to pronunciation of Italian terms. I clearly need some help with these! Thanks for letting me know but I'm glad to hear, despite my poor attempt at Italian, you still enjoyed the lesson. Best wishes.

musictheoryguy All your lessons are so accurate in every detail, so I thought they would be even better if you improved your pronunciation of some Italian terms. I know it's difficult to pronounce "segno" properly for a native English speaker, but I think you can improve listening how this word is pronounced by an Italian speaker: it.forvo.com/word/segno/#it. It's not so important but it's always nice to learn new things, isn't it? :-)
Thanks for the video it was very clear Nd helpful

Really clearly explained and helped me out (I actually misread the Coda as D.S rather than D.C and was frustrated as I couldn't find the 'S' symbol). Thanks!

What helped me heaps was practising drawing a good facsimile of one of those "segno's". Took a number of tries, but I have the hang of it now.
