Climbing a DH track with 330 miles in the legs! Crossing Tasmania raw footage

Фильм және анимация

At mile of 330 of the 360 mile Crossing Tasmania ride, the route climbed the infamous Old Blue Tier, once a downhill MTB track. One of the film crew's local drivers, Gareth, insisted on capturing some of this infamous climb knowing it would be one of the biggest challenges of the day. Accessing this part of the route was a huge extra effort for Gareth, who like Payson McElveen was also going on 32 hours without sleep. Luckily Gareth does some trail running and was able to gut out almost 20 minutes of jogging with the gimbal-- an impressive endurance feat in its own right. Very thankful for Gareth's commitment so this raw footage could be captured from a challenging, isolated part of the big ride.

I'd be hike-a-biking way more than that myself fresh, let alone 300 miles deep. Insane!

It was a mental battle as much as physical for sure.

Pretty tough stuff, is that a 4x4 track or a waterfall of some kind I wonder 🤔

I think it was an old 4x4 track first, but definitely resembles more of a waterfall at this point! Ha!
