I truly enjoyed this presentation I spent 7 years with the 10th Mountain Division, 3rd Bn 6th Field Artillery Ft. Drum NY and deployed both to Iraq and Afghanistan. I am retired from the Army now and live in Centennial . I have been to Camp Hale and the 10th has a special place in my heart "Climb to Glory" Thank you 9 News for making this excellent documentary.

9 years with 3-71 cav, 2 deployments to Afghanistan. I live in pueblo west now. I have been past it on 24 and stopped to look at the memorial but I think it's time to go down onto the actual grounds.

I was a member of the 7th Sustainment Brigade deployed to Iraq in 2007-2008. Proudly we were assigned to support the 10th during their 15 month cycle. Retrospectively, I now realize that my knowledge and skills were keenly matched for my assignment to 7th Sustainment (subsequently deployed to support the 10th Mountain). I humbly and proudly wore their insignia on the right shoulder.

My Dad, Doc Hanson was in the 10th. Mountain Division and learned to ski at Camp Hale. He had just finished Med. school when he was sent to Camp Hale. In Europe he was in Italy primarily but a few other places as well. When we were kids he told us he could speak 7 languages enough to get bye. After the war he practiced medicine for about 40 years. He died in 1992.

My great Uncle Andrew Kadie was at camp Hale during WW2. I've always pieced together bits of his history. I appreciate this documentary and how it gives me insight into parts of his life I haven't had access to. He was an amazing person..like all of theses folks who served. Thank you.

I served with the 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, NY. I spent 17 years there between active duty and a civilian employment . I don’t miss the -35 degree winters and getting up 3 hours early to shovel my driveway so I can get to work on time.

This was a really good video that gave me a better idea of the WWII 10th mountain division history and I’m proud of it I’m proud of my country soldiers and my state I live in Colorado and it’s just amazing to see just this is it this is how it all started I wish to join one day even tho being in the military can suck even if I did join IK I will never live up to be like the ones before us but I look up to them RIP to those fallen during war lost but never forgotten rest in peace high above the mountains. And I thank everyone in the military not just the tenth mountain but every one who helped protect the country they all have their own story to tell weather it’s in the clouds or in person. “Climb to Glory.” “To the top.”

I am half Brazilian and half American. I would like to mention the fact that while 10th Mtn. troops captured Belvedere, soldiers from the Brazilian Expeditionary Force captured Monte Castello nearby and more or less at the same time. It moves me to no end to know that both my countries fought to rid Italy and the world of Fascism.

Thank you for the story.. There are a couple documentaries that share this great history.. including speaking to how much these men loved to sing.. Fact checking your interviewee.. 90 years old would make his birth year 1933.. Would make him 8 in 1941 and 12 in 1945.. @GaryShapiro.. and @9News

That's true. Born in 1933 would make him just 17 when the Korea War started in 1950, too young to participate there too. Mr. Shapiro tricked his viewers there. Maybe he was unable to get any other veterans from the 10th Mountain Division, who had participated in these conflicts. I mean, someone who had been 20 y.o. in 1940, would be a 103 years old today.

I've always wonder the same thing and I served at both bases speculation is the winter in Fort drum is a lot harsher than carson and when I say alot it's not even close. In upstate new york, its not uncommon to see feet of snow at a time or negative temperatures for over a month.
