In this show, we discussed with renowned American journalist and educator Richard Heinberg the implications of Climate change. We have asked him about the viability of the current financial structure to combat climate change. We have also discussed the global divide between the West and the East about tackling climate change. We have asked him about consumerism and his thoughts about regrowth. Beyond global warming, we have discussed biodiversity. And finally, we wrap up the segment with whether there is not just a place but also a requirement for "spirituality" in the global struggle against climate change.

Link for donation: paypal.me/sankymudiar Guys, we want to work full-time on this, but our financial woes keep us pushing away. If your wallet allows please drop us some support. We prefer the PayPal method since we don't lose half of the money, but you can also give us a super chat. If you are a large donor, we would obviously get in touch with you to give something back if we can. But if you can't no worries. Please subscribe, share, and like. That means a lot already

There is nothing called a "post carbon future". The CO2 is locked in thousands of years to come. Richard Heinberg knows very well, that a vast majority of human beings are ecologically insane and hence doomed. India being a prime example of what he cites, as OVERSHOOT... Of population, emissions and consumption. The real cost of which is occuring now within the country and a far greater toll is on it's way. Socialism will do balls in the great unraveling.

@@AudioPervert1extreme individualism may be characterized as a failure to relate to the other, the world and one’s possible place in that world. Your response seems to acknowledge this terminal illness, but you have yet to explain why socialism will have no effect either. You may well be correct, but socialism is merely recognizing the centrality of the world and your species in that world while trying to make the existing economy more just. If you are saying that both systems are in wrong relation, economically and ecologically speaking, with the world and all that is in it, I might be inclined to agree. However, Heinberg does not speak so much here on ideology as on a return to some as yet vague notion of natural harmony. That vagueness is what we must investigate since the status quo is not sustainable.
Heinberg deserves better attention than followers of this site have so far proffered. I have not got round to reading his works (a matter of time management and age) but he is someone with a wide knowledge of world history, culture and civilization who applies this understanding to problems of a physical nature - especially energy use. People like Heinberg impress and deserve even more recognition than they have so far received. Bravo to your team for bringing this shaft of light out of darkness for us to see.

To what? Could go from this to worse if not careful. Communism was different but didn't end well.
Excellent conversation. Sharing it all around.

Yes and no. Governments can very successfully redistribute wealth. But the original sin is private property. The earth is shared, so everything that comes from it is common wealth. And they are quite good at sharing with each other, through joint-stock shares. It just has to be reformulated to have a public not private benefit.
American hegemony requures the USDA to be the world reserve currency. All oil sales use the USDA for trade. America has no interest in ending fossil fuel usage.

All else being equal, no. But climate change upsets the basis of that hegemony, the global economy.
Down with capitalism if we ever get it. We are not a capitalist system. Actual capitalism would have cradle to grave costs embedded in the products.
