The joke about the milk bottle tops is a reference to how milk back in the day was delivered to your doorstep and the foil top was often pecked at by the birds in the morning trying to get at the cream, often blue tits, a common British bird and a clever pun about the Sun newspaper which featured topless models on page 3.😂

Spot on. Open to page 3 on the tube, preferably next to a nice bird. Watch the discomfort.
My mum used to say... It's better to remain silent and appear a fool.. Than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.. Wise woman..
These two are the pinnacle of British humour. Comedy geniuses at work......They are sadly missed.....

The co-op is not a supermarket. It's a convenience/grocery shop. Asda Sainsbury's Aldi Tesco's Morrisons Lidl Those are all the supermarkets in the UK.
This is Ronnie Barker at his best. He’s using the fact your brain can go ‘Anywhere’ if you plant some simple hints. That then lets the mischievous part of your mind run wild. A wickedly funny and brilliant man!

Open all hours was a masterclass at that. Everything he said was implied smut but your brain had to quietly do the last leg of the work :D
Co-op is short for cooperative, a business owned by its workers where all profits are shared. Specifically, The Co-Op is a small supermarket, local to pretty much everywhere. So yes, you could find fish there, in the freezer section.
I remember when I was little Canadian tv used to air all the British comedians like Dave Allen and Benny Hill, Monty Python etc. after midnight and my dad stayed up and watched them so my brother and I would sneak down to the landing to try and see them ourselves. That is how I was introduced to these shows and more than 40 years later I still think they are hysterical! It brings back so many memories!
Co-op (coop) .. is a supermarket here.. hence he said fish.. x
Love the punchline to this sketch. So unexpected.

Crossed Lines is still my favourite, equal to four candles of course :)
Hi Guys, great to see you enjoying more of the Two Ronnies. The Co-op growing up in the `60/70s was another Retail Department Store, selling everything from furnishings to food. It started as the Co-operative Movement around 160 yrs ago in the U.K . As far as I`m aware, it was where smaller businesses across the country joined together under one banner, to have a brand & buy in bulk. (So as regards the crossword, a fishmonger)
One of my favourites, along with 'Racing Duck!'

No, definitely a pigeon 🤣✌️
Co-op is a supermarket but can also be a housing association. Page 3 of The Sun was a topless model and blue tits are a national bird that learned to peck holes in the foil milk bottle tops when milk was delivered and left on your doorstep. I'm afraid that I'm so old I still do the crossword in the newspaper (not The Sun) without using Google. Great to see the Two Ronnie's. Thanks guys xx

Glad I'm not the only one still doing newspaper crosswords! :)
The Co-Op (Cooperative Society) was an early version of Walmart, stocking all the essentials for everyday life that people commonly used back then. The American equivalent was a General Store.
The co-op is a supermarket in UK - sells food etc... hence fish.
Co-op is short for "the co-operative" which is a chain of grocery stores in the UK. They're supposedly owned by their staff who get a share of the profits IIRC. Historically they were founded out of various local co-operative societies where members and staff got a share of the profits for sales made. Co-operative societies were common in the mid to late 1800s in the UK up until the late 1930s, especially in rural areas. Today the Co-op runs supermarkets (mostly smaller ones) and a bank as well as an investment arm IIRC.
The SUN newspaper reference is to do with female models on page 3 of the paper with their knockers on show. Topless Page 3 models were introduced by the Sun in 1970 and ceased In January 2015.
Co-op is for a co-operative, an association of private individuals to specific goals - one of which could be housing, or the supply of food. There's a supermarket in the UK called the Co-op owned in part by the shopworkers.
The co-op is a grocery store chain in the uk
Sun tabloid newspaper (I use gat term newspaper very loosely when talking about The Sun) used to feature a topless model on page 3. People that bought The Sun often bought it just for that. The other tabloids followed suit. Daily Mirror, Daily Star, there was even one that featured topless models every two or three pages called the Daily Sport/Sport (it used to have a "nipple count" on page 2 telling how many nipples were shown in that issue). Any joke about The Sun, is usually based around the dumbed down nature of the readership and the tits on page 3. Surprise, surprise, it's another Rupert Murdoch shit sheet. Page 3 has gone, but otherwise it's the same low brow, right wing, shit sheet it ever was. BTW, sad comment on Britain that until recently it was the biggest selling newspaper in the UK.

The newspaper ‘The Sun’ was a rag that had half naked women on page 3, hence the reference to tits,And a half naked man on page 7 for equality reasons only

It's Co-op, the Cooperative Society. Started as a general store for the poor in Rochdale near Manchester as they we being ripped of by the Commercial grocery stores.
Love the 2 Ronnies always funny!
a double twist at the end....yeah...your right...the nun, did put SHIT..in the crossword....then asked for a RUBBER?...(erasor) or in slang a CONDOM....to erase the error....considering the time, this show aired, early eighties...it was very Risqué, to have a NUM asking anybody for a rubber (CONDOM)...genius comedy writing...i hope you agree...lol

Co op is a chain of shops. Selling fish
CO-OP... it's a grocery store / supermarket!
"Co-op" was the name of a type of supermarket in the UK. :)
Aw puppies are cute. All my dogs were rescued pups and I trained them to be wonderful dogs 😅
A Coop is a supermarket here. And in them days all supermarkets had a fish counter.
It's okay, if you come to the UK and say "eraser" we'll know what you mean. In fact, on packets it will always say "Erasers" not rubbers, it's just that's what we call them. Although, erasers might be more commonly said in the UK these days than it used to be
Co-op in the UK is a grocery store. 😅
in the UK the Co-Op is a supermarket chain.
Always love that punchline
Well the This Morning video was fun whilst it was up
The nun was played by Barbara New, one of the best comedy character actresses of her time.
Co-op is a supermarket
co op here means the workers own it
We had co-ops down south that just sell like farm goods. Farmer's co-op
The nun joke was a twofer
A rubber is an eraser. The Sun Newspaper had a topless woman on page three. And the CO.OP is a supermarket.
Please can you do a reaction to the 2 Ronnies "Swedish made simple" sketch. It is so clever and so funny. I guarantee you will love it and it will make my day to hear what you guys make of it. Thanks.
@7:15 the Co-op is short for the Co-operative supermarket.
The sun references relate to the sun newspaper always having a topless model featured on page 3
Maybe you didn't get the point (or two, actually) that the daily Sun newspaper used to always show a large picture on page 3 of various big-breasted young women whose attributes were barely covered.
Whilst UK letter boxes can come in varying sizes, most use a standard size of 254mmx38mm (10x1. 5inches), with most postal gift mailings adhering to this size.

Racing Pigeon skit is quite good.
Co-op is a convenience store, similar to a Tesco Express.
It is so ironic that one of these American's uses the word 'Idiot'.
The last part when nun asks for a rubber (eraser) was she’d obviously got the answer wrong and put sh*t which
The Sun is a tabloid newspaper that used to have a picture of a topless woman everyday on page 3
So the nun put shit. Well done, Daniel !
co op is a supermarket XD
Co-op is a food supermarket ❤
co-op is a supermarket chain

Co-op is a grocery store.
rubber in the UK can mean an eraser for pencil
Co-Op is the name of a well known store here.
The Sun is a guttter press and used to have a topless girl on Page 3 until 2014...

Try some Fawlty Towers. Start with an interesting view 👍🏻

The Co op is a supermarket.
Co op is a british supermarket chain
We have many slang terms for just about every body part, yes erasers are rubbers, but rubbers are condoms or bald mans overcoat.
PLEASE chaps have a look at Two Ronnies and 4 candles. This is Ronne Barker at his finest.

Co-op is a British grocery store.
That was a take on the dirtier version - "Feminine Gender, Four letters, ending in .UNT"? The answer is of course "AUNT". Does anyone have an eraser?
co op shops
"It's not Rose" Really. Since when does a Hose smell? LOL Co-op is short for Cooperative Society which was originally set up in Rochdale near Manchester as a community grocery. A rubber is an eraser.
Rubber = Eraser
Daniel 3:47. Did you meen watering hose, O's, panty hose ? Please clarify.
I think these lads have a good understanding of English humour and colloquialisms. Nice video.
Total Classic
Sun paper Topless girl on page 3 2 across joke
A UK C0-OP is a grocery store
"rubber" .... you think that they didn't know the other (US) meaning? Why, of course they did.
What happened to the inbetweeners reactions, did you abandon it? i was enjoying them
Rubber is eraser in real English/
no gig no problem bro??
The inference that that nun wrote down "shit" as the answer was hilarious.
This is none of that - I think it's a parody on the self, on class. On the left we have the educated well dressed stock broker and the newspapers he reads. On the right the (ordinary) man who knows nothing of his world, engaging in the pleasures with which he's fed.
Try the two ronnies swear box
You can't beat there humor 😂😅
Another take on this joke … man on a train doing a crossword asks “What’s four letters for a female? Something …unt.” The guy next to him says “Aunt.” Then the nun across the way asks if anyone has a rubber/eraser. :)
We as brits have enjoyed these two for many years before you guys got it…
