About Clerks:
It's one wild day in the life of a pair of overworked counter jockeys whose razor-sharp wit and on-the-job antics give a whole new meaning to customer service. Even while braving a nonstop parade of unpredictable shoppers, the clerks manage to play hockey on the roof, visit a funeral home and straighten out their offbeat love lives. The boss is nowhere in sight, so you can bet anything can and will happen when these guys are left to run the store.

The writing and characters of this movie are genius it just shows you don’t need countless millions to make a great and timeless movie

This movie cost less to make than most people's college degrees. Even adjusted for inflation.

Probably takes a 1.50 nowadays to make a pack, it's all taxes.
If you ever want to make a movie watch this and you will not overthink making a movie. Very inspiring.
Randall is so cool.
Randy's wavy sing-song voice makes regular dialogues sound laced with sarcasm.

1:26 and thus iced coffee was invented
I can relate. I use to work at a Pizzeria some customers I could handle and others I couldn't handle. I use to have this woman call and she was very mean, difficult, and nasty especially if I repeated the order to make sure the order was right to make sure we didn't make a mistake. Plus the phone reception was not good were the Pizzeria use to be.
I was looking at the magazine racks in the back there. The Enquirer mentions Trump and to the right of that is a road Atlas. Anyone old enough to remember those? Those were essential back in the day before GPS and google maps. Imagine trying to drive somewhere without knowing how to get there. You'd typically have to buy an interstate map, then a local map when you got to the general location where you were going.

Hahhaahhahaha. 37!!!
So at this point in the movie Dante is waiting for his boss to relieve him. Veronica knows this as she comments that he was expected to be home by 12. Yet she says "see you when you close then". Even though Dante doesn't find out that he is there til close until the next scene. Can someone please explain that?
@Matthew-ve7uv
Жыл бұрын
Only explanation is that she thinks the boss is lying -- she's rubbing in that he hasn't been relieved yet (which is why she says it twice). Of course, it's actually (probably) a script fuck up, but that is at least an in-story explanation that I suspend disbelief for.

OOOOO! Navy Seals!
Legend says the boss is still in Vermont
Having worked in retail, I totally understand Randal's point of view. I worked at a liquor store for about 6 months (resumé filler and it was close to my house) and surprisingly it wasn't the occasional drunk guy who'd annoy me the most. It was the fucking idiots who either couldn't read or ignored all the signs I'd put up saying "NO ICE!" whenever we ran out of bags of ice. Seriously I'd put them everywhere. On the front doors, the shelfs, the fridge doors, the snack stand, and on the registers facing the customer. And yet I'd still get people coming in and asking me with a straight face "Do you have any bags of ice?". And none of them were joking. Drove me batshit crazy. So yeah the one thing I never missed from working retail was the customers.
Wow look how cheap smokes were back then. $1.68 to $1.95 a pack.

Besides, is it not OK at times for us average Joes to rent a silly and entertaining no-great-masterpiece of an action movie from time to time and simply watch and enjoy a movie? Not all the time do we always have to subject ourselves to movies that are important and great works of art. Right?

o0o0o navy seals!! 😆😆
The thing that the Randal character keeps ignoring in his constant "You will feel a lot better if you rip into the occasional customer" etc is that, besides it being wrong and not nice of course, there are CONSEQUENCES to such actions and his boss may get the employee in serious trouble for it if not outright lose his job, yet in his argument, whenever the "boss" argument crops up by Dante, Randal just straight ignores it. I mean, OK, maybe you have no respect for others etc but you can have some for YOURSELF and not do certain thinks to avoid actions being taken against you.

I'd agree, but Dante has frequently said throughout the whole film that he hates the job and he hates the boss and that he needs to get out and start his own life. Randal I think just wishes Dante would stop letting the world shove him around and grow a backbone.
