My piano teacher gave me this song so we could both start working on it together, i his searched up this video and when I heard this piece I literally thought it was going to take me 2 years to learn, it only took me about 3 weeks and I have mastered it, now listening to it it sounds like a easy twinkle twinkle little star song, so those of you that wanna play it, You got it!! I’ve been playing the first movement for over a month (maybe even 2) trying to master it, teacher slowly introduced me to the other 2 as time went by and to this day I’m still playing the whole sonatina everyday for at least 1h/1h30m along with other pieces and scales/studies. The sonatina can be “easy” or the most difficult thing to do year 1-2 because of the fast scales, playing it faster and faster requires a lot of time (to do it well)

I'm currently 13, I was put into piano classes when I was about 6 or 7. My first teacher kept me on level 1 until I was about 9 or 10 and finally quit being with her. We found a new place for me to enroll in a music school, and the teacher is really nice. However, I made little improvement and I was on 2B with her. While she's on maternity leave, I have a substitute from across the U.S. teaching me from his studio online (he works for the same music school). Last week he sent my mom this piece to print out and I only played it for 5 minutes it was the first measure- and I got 2 notes wrong... He told me to close my book when I played the piece I'd been playing for months and told me to take out this piece, and I did. Today, I've played 1 hour and 30 minutes of this. This is coming from someone that lost motivation for piano but couldn't quit, someone that barely practices, and I'm so happy that this piece exists.

Sophie Tan its ok! You can do it, don’t give up! I learned this piece very wrong when I was 8. My tempo was off and I played the eighth notes like quarter notes in some parts. It sucked. My posture and hand position was very wrong. My teacher didn’t even correct me. He didn’t care. After studying with a different teacher for over 8 years and lots of practice, I am pursuing a degree in music, play for my church, and recently started to teach piano! Don’t give up, playing piano is so fun and rewarding! Also, you and I are very fortunate for the opportunity to start piano at a young age. Keep it up!

That's called modulation. It's when you change the original key to another one in a piece. In sonata form, this occurs frequently. Usually from a major key to minor key, then back to major. In this case, they key of C has been modulated to the key of C minor, which has the key signature Bb, Eb and Ab. That is why you see the recurring Bb and Eb in the pieces.

This video was recommended by Sharon M. Draper in her book that she wrote called “Blended” saying “And in case you’re interested, here’s a link to hear the song played really, really well.” My school librarian gave it to me, and I’m glad she did. Her book is incredibly well written, about a girl, half white, half black, and her parents are divorced. She loves playing piano and this is the song she is planning to play for her recital. The book is amazing when it comes to the troubles and challenges eleven-year-old Isabella Thornton takes on bravely, despite her parents’ conflict. If you haven’t read it already, I’d recommend checking it out!

When I started playing this song I’m like,” this sounds right” then I listen to this I’m like “WHAT AM I DOING WRONG, ITS SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE THAT!”

Wow!Bravo!😍
That was beautifully played
BRAVO!!!
I JUST FINISHED MEMORIZING THIS SHEET AAAAH
I played this 15 years ago for my RCM Grade 2 exam (it's a Grade 3 piece). It was such a great piece and introduced me to accents and dynamics (though I stopped playing shortly after, lol). I was fine with the scales part, but the left hand was very challenging for me.

Estou relembrando esta peça agora!! Linda interpretação👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is soo great and fun
This was my first sonatina "a bit longest then other", so many memories...
the fact that this man is playing on a steinway is why it sounds so good and complicated.
