I was on a flight from NYC to LA and Clem was on the same flight with me. I introduced myself and told him I started playing drums cause of him. He asked me my name and we spoke for a few minutes. Very down to earth and easy to talk to. He sat two rows behind me but I left him alone for the rest of the flight. I was so excited that I actually met him. Great memory.

He's right that most producers would not have left in all the fills and general rhythmic chaos included in what was a first take, but the "live" sound of the recording is what makes it so good.

One of the most understated drummers of all time at the very least in my opinion.... As a guitar player that listens to drummers I have learned that at the end of the day we love their sound. Clem has a wonderful hit that you can identify instantly. just like Peart, Bonzo, and Portnoy. what makes Clem Burke Great is his sound... I know that's kind of an anemic statement but I stick to it. He SOUNDS amazing... I find it amazing that he doesn't make a lot of the top ten lists when he really should.. I hear a lot of Hal Blaine in his playing which is a huge compliment because Hal Gets overlooked a lot as well, and he was a member of the legendary wrecking crew...... They get overlooked mostly by genre snobs so.... Yanno

God damn him; Clem makes it SEEM so easy. First drummer I knew was BUDDY RICH from staying up late nights on Fridays to watch Johnny Carson(5 yrs old then), about the same time BRIAN FORSTER from the PARTRIDGE FAMILY was kicking ass...then in high school KEITH MOON knocked me over until BLONDIE's DEBBIE HARRY got me back up then and then CLEM jumped down my throat it was 1978. Then While speeding around on my LAMBRETTA I used to listen to BRETT 'BUDDY ASCOTT' from THE CHORDS. the cat did brilliant drum rolls Clem was so hot in red red suits, target turtle necks and flying drum sticks. Not sure who got me going more, CLEM THE MOD on the sticks or DEBBIE THE TEMPTRESS singing like a siren entrapping me with her angelic pipes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKZ8za6EXZrfXco.html

Brilliant drummer and person, my band are doing Dreaming, and I can't get near to his energy, so having to adapt it to suit my drumming. I've went through most of the live videos on KZread and live he plays it faster than the studio version. It's no excuse, but I am a couple of years older than him, and suffered a stroke nearly 6 years ago.
