Cleethorpes: Childhood, Teenage, and young adult years remembered

From the late 60's and throughout the 70's and into the 80's remembering this small coastal resort town, which we frequented annually.

Left a comment last night not sure why it dissapeared. I've only ever visited cleethorpes twice in my life. When i was 4 which i barely remember and when i was 13-14 years old and i stayed at the caravan park you showed with a friend from school and his family. Haven't been for a long time but still a lovely place.

Fond memories of staying in Cleethorpes as a kid. We used to stay at the Parkinson's Holiday Flats on the seafront. Like you I remember arriving on the coaches (Wallace Arnold) back in late 70's / early 80s. From memory... I think the car park where the coaches used to drop off was just behind the railway station. Remember going into Fantasy Land as a kid at the far end - there you'd find the old ghost train / bumper cars. The market used to be held on a Sunday. Fond memories of dragging my father in there just to buy a large Prit Stick lol Why do I always comment half way through a video... Sad to see the pub has gone. That used to be the main meeting point for all the bikers coming into the town. The pitch and put on the right used to be called Arnold Palmer. Not sure if that moved to Skegness or not as there's pretty much an identical setup there now. Bizarrely can't remember the Signal Box Inn... Recall getting on the train next to the new(ish) swimming baths and travelling along the beach line towards the boating lake. Can't recall the Inn. Strange 🙂

@@paulscarth thank you, there's so much more now than I ever said in the video , and it's these kind of comments that make you think again. Think we always went to the crap shop to get a bucket and spade lol

@@paulscarth the train sets off from the baths, stops at the pub that the old station then goes back up to the front goes up the what I'd call the castle, (that's the end o the road that's a path now opposite beacholme in the second vid) turns the engine round then goes back to the baths. Did it with grand kids 3 yrs since lol
