This video is GREAT. This is the type of thing you want to see what a Lawn Tractor can do. Not how well it cuts my pussnboots back yard grass. We just bought this model yesterday, it'll be delivered in a few days. CAN'T WAIT NOW! We are on an 80 acre property, mostly forest. But a really big front yard and garden. A+++

I haven't used mine for anything this big, but I recently cut down 1.5 deeply overgrown acres of my land, including kudzu, with my Husqvarna string trimmer and a brush blade, and I use my Husqvarna lawn tractor to keep it cut down. This thing a beast and it's no easy task keeping this property in shape, but I'm glad I have the best equipment made with Husqvarna ❤, but it is better to cut down the thick stuff first so you can see what's underneath it, I found 2 old mowers and countless other things in my jungle

With a similar 42" 20HP V2 Ariens I have cut tall crap like this too. The "Failure modes" I have had are: (1) running over a hidden piece of 1/4" rope and it wound up on the blades. ie a giant mess to cut out; one hour, a huge mess. This same thing happened too on a string trim mower and the engine stopped quickly and ruined the engine's timing. It was not the flywheel key, major bent items. Thus the riding mower rope adventure was just lost time cutting out the mess. With the string trim mower, I put another 6.5HP engine on it. In the Deep South with ticks and chiggers, a riding mower has one not walking in a field of ticks. (2) have hit glass bottles hidden in tall grass thrown close to a dirt road, ie knuckleheads litter and throw bottles up on ones property. (3) hit steel scrap that last landowner dumped but now is exposed due to erosion. (4) hit turtles, dead possum, (5) Hit stumps that were "magically higher" than flush due to erosion, or a hole nearby. Thus on my own propertly, I flag known risky spots. About the worst thing is cut an unknown piece of field, or due it in a hurry or when too dark.

Yeah I knew something was going to go wrong. There's always things so hidden in those areas that you can't see them. Like fat branches that look like dirt or brown grass. Rusty metal and completely faded and abandoned tires that look like dead grass and boom when you mow over them the lawn mower is broken.

Love all the drama! Some of y'all are worse than the animal people! Not sure where they are selling these for so much money, I bought this same unit for 1700 dollars brand new and used it commercially for a few years in Michigan. I didn't expect much from it being an MTD product, but the thing ate! I was young, starting out, and in a pinch. That Kohler was a torque monster, never one time did stall, even windrowing piles of grass in fields, chopping leaves in the fall, and as seen here, clearing fields. I ran heavier blades, and didn't run trees and sinks over, but still beat it like I hated it. It pulled harder the more you dogged it, and never protested. The hydraulic transmission was great too, I would use it to move car haulers full of leaves and wood, and this little machine loved pulling logs if you loaded those drive tires right. If you could get weight on those tires, it would pull extremely hard. It spent it's fair share of time with the front wheels up when bagging, pulling and etc. Handled wet ground well too. The hardest I ever worked it was plowing snow, but with a few hundred pounds and chains, I was plowing that heavy belly plow snow often 2 feet deep from sidewalks and driveway entrances very quickly, and easily. It would ram through mounds left by real professionals, and actually scrape down better than their plows. I maintained about 7 homes and about half a mile of sidewalk for years with this thing, then scrapped it when a family member needed a transmission. (which is still in service today, living a much easier life) The unit had over 700 hours on it. Only went through one drive belt the whole time, and 3 sets of front tires, and probably 15 oil changes. That's it! I must have made my money back 4 times with the thing. YTH20K46

Cody Freeman Oh I have no doubt! I love those older units, you can't beat those. But for a new, cheaper, MTD made lawn tractor, these Husqvarna's are absolutely decent. It was just all the fussing the comments below... Hopefully a little testimony will help!

It helps to walk the property and see if there are anything(s) that you should avoid. Also, if you go by a set pattern, usually a back and forth and move along in that fashion, you can see great results for the time you put in. Randomly mowing along all over the place makes it hard to evaluate if you accomplished much. JMHO.
