Patrick clears brush and small trees around a hilltop to recover a lost meadow. The goal is to create a safety zone in the event of a wildfire and to restore a lost meadow. The brush clearing along this ridge will further enhance the strategic defense of a 4-mile-long ridgeline firebreak. The lost meadow is hidden in small Douglas fir, madrone, manzanita and coyote brush. Sonoma Landworks uses a John Deere 650K bulldozer, an 8 Ton Kubota excavator with a GMT 040 grapple saw and a Cat 259D3 rubber track skid steer with a skeleton grapple bucket to round-up the brush into a large pile for future permitted burning. The lost meadow will be planted with clover to provide a nutritious food source for native animals including deer, turkey, rabbits and quail.
