Clearancing 13B-REW Rotary Side Seals Using A Drill Press
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I've been asked to shoot a video on how to clearance 13b side seals using a drill press and an old rotor. I've never shot a video like this, so hopefully this is helpful to a few people.
EDIT: I found that the feed direction influences the angle of the cut of the side seal. If you're not getting a good fitment against the corner seal, try feeding the side seal into the other side of the bit.
I don't claim to be an expert engine builder. I'm sure there are better methods to do this, but this is the best solution I've found for the equipment I have available.
Parts used in this build:
Goopy oversized 2mm apex seals
Goopy rotor cleaning kit
Atkins Rotary side seals and springs
Atkins Rotary solid corner seals and springs

Great video, I'm likely going to use this method for my modified renesis rotors. Seems to be much easier to obtain consistency vs. the regular dremel method.
Great song playing at the beginning
Damn, you have quite a similar music taste to me lmao, I recognised two songs
Great idea, thanks for sharing. I don't think I've seen anyone else mention the magnifying lens to look for burrs. It's been a few years, how did this engine turn out?

I'm glad I was able help someone! I haven't had an opportunity to run this engine yet. I'm still doing a bunch of work on my FD. I'm doing a full restomod and honestly don't allocate a ton of time to it.
Is it possible if you give too much clearance that apart from low compression it can damage the plates?
Hi. did you measure in mm or imperial?Left 0.02mm clearance . Is that correct?

I measured everything in imperial. The spec per the manual is 0.05-0.15mm or 0.0020"-0.0059" clearance between the corner seal and a new side seal. I recommend you check out the factory service manual that's available online. Cheers!

@@bartlomiejolechowski3916 Good luck with the rebuild! You should check out AaronCake's rebuild videos too. Those were a really good reference for me when I did my first one.
