First of all I want to thank everyone for the kind words and support.
We are starting our old shop cleanup and seeing what we can salvage from the fire we had in our home shop.
For anyone who's asked for a way to help, our son has organized a GoFundMe. Here is the link: gofund.me/a4c66140

You have made my life better over the last 2 years brother. My lady passed away 3 yrs ago and you have helped me survive immensley with your amazing show. Every winter day I look so forward to watching as it is so soothing. I sent u 200 bucks which is actually not enough for what you, Esther and Pablo have done for me. Nobody died here, nobody has cancer - you will get back - no question about that. Much love and prayers to you all from Ashern MB

Brent one of the hardest things I ever did was to accept help from anyone till someone explained it like this. It is a blessing to others when they give or do something for someone else . So if you don't accept their gift you are keeping them and you from receiving the blessings . We care about you and Ester and we hurt when we see you hurting. I have to admit i shead some tears when i found out the shop was gone. We love you guys.

Jay has nailed it here. Brent, it's not like you just loaf around and are looking for some freeloader handout. Something terrible happened and others like us want to come around you. Let those who can do so and know you're not taking something for nothing, like Jay here said. You allow blessing to happen for the giver, and please know you're worth it!! Dammit. :)

I don't know what to say when I see all this, so I asked the AI computer, and it seems that he's thinking as I am... "I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your garage and all of your tools and vintage car parts. It's completely understandable that you feel defeated and overwhelmed right now. But remember, you are strong and have the courage to get through this." "You have a passion for building hotrod cars, and nothing can take that passion away from you. It's that passion that will help you rebuild everything that was lost and make it even better than it was before." "I believe in you, and I know that you have what it takes to get through this. Take it one day at a time, and don't let the loss of everything you built crush your dreams. Instead, you can use this as an opportunity to learn and grow even more as a builder of hotrod cars." "Remember, you are not alone in this. You have people around you who love and support you. Accept their support and help when you need it. Together, you will rebuild and create something amazing."

Brent. Your positive attitude is teaching to grandson and son is how to deal with a life challenge. Youth all want to help and contribute to repay the kindness you gave them. Having them clean up the tools and sorting through usable is a good chore. In the long run your shop will be back up in better condition. Insurance coverage helps. They often pay you for your clean up time along with lost building and furnishings. Soldier on.

I am going to comment before I watch your video Brent. There is absolutely nothing I can say that will correct this. I’ve never suffered this sort of loss before. If you’ve done nothing in your videos, you proved to all of us, you are a resourceful and capable man. There have been many many times I’ve watched your skill as an artist with old cars and wondered how you would do something that I was clueless about….. and each and every time you demonstrated your skill to thousands of us, your viewers. I know you have to dig down deep inside and reconcile this loss emotionally. We are with you, we are watching and waiting for the grandest Half Ass Kustom build yet….. your new garage. Like the Pheonix rising from the flames, your new garage will also rise from the ashes. I wish you peace and resolve….

My heart was full last night, with an agony of soul for several who are undergoing great hardship of trials from loss. Some who lost a great deal in a fire, one who lost his wife to a burst aorta (her passing was sudden, thankfully). An old chorus came to mind. Lord lay some soul upon my heart, and love that soul through me, and may I ever do my part to win that soul for thee. That reminded me that, for the saved, great loss is hard to bear, but the loss of one's soul is the greatest loss of all.

I’m a nurse here in south west England. During covid, I wasn’t allowed to work on my ward for almost a year due to personal health issues. I was able to work from home supporting my ward with tedious, clerical work. I discovered your channel a few months into lockdown, and i must say, you kept me going! Iv owned a old beetle and a morris minor and have always dreamed of owning a small shop some day. Your manor, calmness and kindness to your friends and family is a true inspiration. You sir, are a true gentle man, and you deserve all the kind comments you are receiving. Please set up a go fund me page so I can contribute to your rebuilding. It’ll be an epic series for your channel that hopefully will boost your channel ten fold. All the best to you and your family. Tom

Brent, I see a brand new canvas that you can create a shop of your dreams. A shop that has dedicated rooms for plasmas and 3D printing, a room for body work, a main section that has multiple lifts, a room that is dedicated just to metal work. Maybe even a lounge area for you to kick back and enjoy a beer or two. It hurts to see something that you worked so hard for be destroyed, but it can also be a chance to build back better.

Hi guys, I just stumbled onto your video showing the aftermath of the fire, and I KNOW what you're going thru, and what you will go thru in the future. You see, I owned a mid-size antique car restoration shop in Maryland, with 8 employees. On the 6th of May 1995, at 11:32 pm, during a violent thunderstorm, my shop building was hit by a very powerful lightning strike, and most of my shop was destroyed, the last fire fighter only leaving later that afternoon after there was no smoke visible. Yes, 5 days ago was the 18th anniversary of the fire. In addition to losing all the equipment, supplies and large parts inventory, I lost a total of 18 vehicles, all considered a total loss, and another 20 cars were repairable. Most of my employees worked for almost 6 months [most of the time for free] as we found another location and worked to re-open the shop. The good thing was because it was late at night, no one was hurt. At least physically hurt anyway. I suspect you are going thru good 'ol PTSD [Post traumatic stress disorder], so don't hesitate to get some counseling, you will be glad you did! My big problem I quickly discovered was my insurance company was able to wiggle out of paying my portion of the claim, only taking care of my customer cars under the liability clause. The insurance company said I didn't have a special fire rider because the location was further than 2 miles from the nearest source of water. Went to court and the judge said it was a simple contract situation, and I didn't have the necessary fire insurance. So I lost 12 of my own very rare cars, along with the building. One of the customer cars 100% destroyed was a 1969 Chevelle Malibu SS hardtop with 396/4 speed. It was still owned by the man who bought it new, and we were 98% done with the restoration. He was a local Police Officer and heard about the fire within hours, so that morning he and his wife came to visit, and the 3 of us had a good cry together. From the insurance payments, they both bought new Harley-Davidson motorcycles! Now about metal after a fire: 1. Forget about any type of sheet metal. It's warped because it's been physically altered from the carbon burning out of the steel, and it will never have sufficient strength to be used again. That lovely little coupe you had is warped, not from stuff falling on it, but the metal is warped from the excessive heat. Because there were a couple of my own cars I wanted to rescue, I consulted with a metallurgical engineer who explained how a really hot fire will literally cook the carbon out of the steel, making it too weak to repair. Even stamped chassis frame sections are probably no longer safe to use. 2. Cast Iron parts will likely still be useable, providing they have not warped. For example, I had a 1956 Packard Caribbean engine with the dual 4 barrel carbs. Of course the carbs melted into the intake, and because the hold down bolts had been heated up so high, I was able to remove them with my fingers. The manifold, when set on a machinist's flat plate, would rock side to side about 1/8 inch. 3. Forged steel items like wrenches in the tool boxes will likely still retain their strength, but I would not trust high torque sockets if they are no longer black. If the chrome plating is burned off the tool, it's junk. 4. Items that were on the floor or within about 4 to 6 inches above the floor may be fine, like your floor jack that still works. This is because the fire is bringing in fresh [cold] air from below, and things near the floor often don't get too hot. I had a 1963 SAAB 850GT Monte Carlo factory prepared race car that sat low to the ground, and the bottom part of the car was fine, even though the top part was destroyed. 5. and I'm sure you realize if it was aluminum, It's probably beyond salvaging. One of my cars, a 1946 Alfa-Romeo 6C2500 had an all aluminum coupe body, that was actually gone. Nothing left of the body. And of course the drive line had a alloy gearbox and cylinder head, and for years I had what was a solidified molten glob of aluminum with gearbox parts sticking out of it, hanging on the wall in my shop office, as a stark reminder of the power of nature! Now here's something you won't believe is possible: This was not the first fire I went thru. On May 5th, 1973, a barn I was renting in Damascus Maryland to store 5 vehicles in while I was in the Army, was hit by lightning, and all 5 vehicles were a total loss. The next Monday morning when I showed up for Company formation, the Commanding Officer could tell something was wrong, and when I showed him the polaroid photos of the aftermath, he gave me a week's emergency leave. It's hard enough to deal with a "one in a million" chance that lightning will hit your building, but the chances of having 2 buildings hit by lightning is so rare, no one seems to know anyone else who has had that happen. No one! I've even had a few people, upon hearing I've been thru 2 lightning strike losses, actually backed away from me! If you want to talk, I'm available, just let me know. My best contact method is email; billmccoskey [at] aol [dot] com. I'm serious, I'm retired and more than willing to chat either by email, text, or phone.

I remember when our Cabin was burned to the ground, back in 2000, it was a massive undertaking. We had to take magnets on rollers to go over the entire area. I for got how many nails, it was over 300lbs of the things. All the stuff that we had in it, we did rebuild but not in the same place, and it was not as big, we don't have one picture of the old cabin, one picture we took of friends inside and thats it. So looking at this mess you have brings many tears to my eye's. Stay strong there is light at the end of that tunnel. God Bless.

A tough one for you folks to share but it told the story very well. That fire was hot! Glass and alloy were melted, temper was cooked out of steel girders and the cars were baked until glowing causing the warping as the metal was too close to melted to hold its shape. Six months from now it'll be far enough behind you that a lot of this pain will be gone with burn victim rescues well under way in a new and better equipped building, just those are tough times until then, where you will wonder if it is worthwhile trying. I already know you won't give up on your chore to rebuild, just make sure you make realistic goals in a workable timeline not to overwhelm yourselves with the added pitfalls of not meeting short term expectations. If anybody can rebuild from this disaster it's you guys just keep the faith of a glorious outcome in the not too distant future.
