CLEANING SUEDE WITH JASON MARKK

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Cleaning suede is a fear of many. But with Jason Markk Premium Shoe Cleaner and the proper techniques, you’ll soon be cleaning suede like a pro!
Ready? Let’s get started!
When attempting to clean dyed suede, proceed with extreme caution. Dyed suede is likely to bleed with ANY contact with water.
An easy way to test for bleeding is to take a light-colored towel and lightly brush the suede to check for any color transfer.
When cleaning suede or any other delicate materials, be sure to use our Premium Brush which has softer hog bristles.
The very first step is to take a dry premium brush and lightly brush the entire area of the shoe. This willremove any loose top layer dirt that may be sitting on the suede.
To start, follow steps 1-3 listed on the back of the bottle.
Now before scrubbing be sure to shake off as muchexcess water as possible. You can even take the brush and dab it onto a towel to remove even more water.
Next you can start scrubbing, it’s best to give the entire area of suede an even go. This helps to promote even drying and prevents any water spots.Repeat as necessary.
Now that you’ve cleaned the suede, the next and most critical step is the drying and revival process.
After scrubbing, it’s important to move very fast -right into the drying process with a clean, drymicrofiber towel.
Take the towel and begin to dab and twist. The key is to MOVE FAST.
The dab and twist method not only absorbs water from the suede, but helps to slowly bring the nap back.
Repeat this several times. Then allow to dry naturally.
In an hour or two, revisit the suede with a dry premium brush and begin to work the nap back and forth.
Continue this motion for an extended period of time. Then set the shoes aside and allow them to continue to dry naturally.
After allowing the shoes to dry for several more hours, revisit the suede and repeat working the napback and forth with a dry premium brush.
Repeating these steps several times throughout the drying period until the shoes have completely dried is critical.

it's really stupid how we are already spending $24 with shipping on the cleaner. So why throw a cheap brush in with it and expect to spend another $10 for a premium brush? Then another $10 for a microfiber towel?

Anyone having issues with this process, I recommend using far less water than even seen here, I found that the amount you see here to create THAT much bubbles if far past the amount of water you want. For those who feel that it still ruined their suede even after using the absolute minimum water, be patient. I just cleaned one shoe of my SoleBox UBs and was terrified shortly after when seeing the suede compared to the untouched one. CLEANED SUEDE WILL NEVER MAINTAIN THE "LIKE NEW" TEXTURE 100%. But fear not, even when it feels dry to the touch, suede still has more to dry. Even so I felt that the cleaned suede was much darker. To fix this I happened to have a Angelus Suede eraser and supplied brush (only used it because my premium JM brush was damp still) which once the suede "felt" dry I would go over all the "cleaned" suede with the eraser then brush off the eraser shavings with the COMPLETELY DRY brush, I would wait a few more minutes (to let it continue drying?) and then rinse and repeat with the suede eraser. After a few times of doing this I can honestly say the suede has restored completely to its untouched color (I kept the other shoe untouched to compare). This said, while the color is now restored, the cut is visibly shorter on the cleaned suede under closer inspection. So not a perfect system BUT you can clean suede and maintain the color! Hope this helps people as I havent seen any videos of people incorporating both the cleaner and eraser and it worked great for me!

I think your advice is great! Too much water and... ruined shoes! I remember taking some suede saddle shoes to a shoe repair shop before and it was the brush which did the trick. He put them under a “grinder” type wheel, which I’m sure had bristles, which were perfectly designed for brushing off the matted/soiled suede and kicked up the suede nap below. They looked brand new! These miracle liquid cleaners are questionable at best. I bet a light dusting of baking soda, to absorb dirt and a good brush would do the trick too.

  • @kvocalist

Be very careful, it ruins suede depending on what type! I had 1 lil mark on a pair of my black suede Jordans, used his on the go cleaning solution with the lil toothbrush provided, and the suede is now dark and shiny, it does not resemble that nubuck suede like the rest of the shoe. I will NOT use Jason Mark again!

  • @rcole6679

I’d take your old stained oily suede shoes to a repair shop and ask them to brush up the nap. I did that once and they used an electric grinding type wheel, which must’ve had bristles, designed for suede shoes...not to soft...not to abrasive. The oily dirt disappeared and the under suede nap was brushed up and they looked like new! I’ve found a really good pair of shoes are worth resoling and taking to a pro. Most shops aren’t too expensive, just be sure they’re experienced.

I used to clean them directly into the washing mashine. It works with premium quality shoes, liquid detergent and a short washing program. If you have poor quality suede shoes they will surely loose color, as it happened to me once. I was washing them in the machine for years because no other method cleans better a shoe. Except for leather ones, that cannot be cleaned with water. I would recommend to buy shoes that have very small amounts of suede incorporated, it is safer. Cleaning like in the video is just for the outside and very time/energy consuming. What about the inside and the odors that accumulate there??

Don’t think so! The closeup wasn’t good enough, but they did look like cloth. Got vans? Unlace them and toss laces and shoes into the wash. I would not use hot water either, but instead start with cold, then maybe warm, if the cold didn’t work so well or another round with cold water as a follow up. Dry on low, to avoid set in stains or melted rubber or even shrinkage.

Just bought the kit, unfortunately my results did not look anything close to yours. I am skeptical of how dirty your shoes actually were to begin with. $37.00 literally flushed down the toilet.
