I use oxi clean detergent + 30% concentrated vinegar. Most of my microfiber engrained with polishing compound (Mother's) went from black to colorful again. Just stuck the towels in a big zip-loc bag along with hot water, the detergent, and vinegar. Get the air out, seal it up, and agitate it periodically. Then rinse and ring out. Most of the gunk should literally fall out/off the towels leaving them nice and clean. Benefits of vinegar is it's also a natural fabric softener too.

I may be missing something but the tip here is to soak dirty rags in soap and water? Revolutionary.

must be a degreaser, not all soaps are degreasers. Dishwashing liquid is usually the most readily available in a home.

If you let most of the water evaporate, you can end up with a very small container of hazardous waste, albeit very condensed, which is another problem. Hopefully those people know the best thing to do with it. I suppose the unfortunate botttom line is that humans will be the demise of the planet, one way or another. But still, the guy has a good procedure. At least there is less waste of rags.

Didn't you watch? Right into the lawn beside where you always soak the rags! Then you get a nice big oily patch in your soil that pollutes your water table and runs into your garden and where your children play. How nice! Or apparently you can just leave it sit outside in a bucket and the water and oil will just evaporate into thin air! Magic!

If you have a work shop where you are washing your own rags instead of being able to afford for a truck to bring you a new huge bundle, then most likely your shop floor and yard is already littered with oil spills, etc. So just pour it out

Is it ok to just put these through the washer on a cold cycle? And then when that is done, I was thinking to run an empty rinse cycle to make sure all the rest of the oil is completely out of the clothing container. I can't find an answer for this anywhere. Is this ok? Will it ruin the washer?

Its not a matter of ruining the washer, but contaminates will linger in the washer and ruin your regular clothes with all washes after

You should be able to wash these as long as you wash them separately. I personally would use warm or even hot water though, but that is just my opinion. You would also think that if you use the method in the video and they are supposedly clean, then just to be sure you could put them with your other clothes in the machine. As far as the "residue" if you wash them directly, HE machines have a "Tub Clean" setting. Follow the instructions in your washers manual and it will be clean for your next load with zero issues...

I guess the disposal of the oily water is the main problem. This bucket probably was dumped where the video was shot.

how long do you let them soak in there? Or are you just saying that you drop them in there, ring them out a few times and pull them out?

I go threw heaps of rags, I just put a half dozen in old pillow cases, and chuck'em in a laundrymat machine. It's still saving money and get cleaner rags and doesn't stuff my machine.

ill admit i have never tried to wash the rags but i def have my doubts as to its effectiveness. The key i guess as he states may be to not let them get “too oily” . most of mine get to the point theyre more oil than rag.

@@jacobmarley2417I get dawn and soak mine in a 5 gallon bucket and agitate them by hand for a few min. Rinse and line dry. It gets most of the oil and gunk out. I'd never wipe my face with these towels, but I'd use them to wipe up spills and clean off stuff
