Great video buddy! I immediately refurbished my Northstar propane lantern which was not working and it started up and burned like a charm. Now on to my other Coleman propane lamps. Thank you!

I know it's been 3 years but thanks for the very detailed instructions. Also, that fish tank is beautiful. One of the cleanest I've seen

Thanks for the video. I have two of the Northstar propane lanterns and both were very dim. I often run mine on top a 24" distribution post mounted on a 11 Lb propane tank. I've heard some people mentioning that the bulk tanks can ruin a lantern. After reading that I though mine might be shot. I did a quick KZread search and stumbled on your video. 30 minutes later, both my lanterns are burning like they were new. I used spray carburetor cleaner and gun cleaner on it, and scrubbed it with some brass brushes. I couldn't see light through the orifice before the cleaning, but there is a very visible hole after the cleaning process. I also took apart and cleaned the propane connection "nipple" that goes in the propane tank, just for good measure. Thanks again !

Thank you! After removing the bolt, the lantern assembly would not come loose. Because I was following your instructions I knew that the lantern should come free from the base. So I sprayed it with some anti-seize and worked it for a while. It finally broke free. After that the cleanup worked and the lantern is shining brightly again!

Very informative video. I had 3 North Star lanterns, the first one I purchased the parts were not there for assembly, I returned it and got another on. I assembled it and it caught fire, the diaphragm behind the gas control valve malfunctioned. Coleman would not acknowledge the problem. I purchased another one, and the igniter quit working. I light it with a match. I need to clean the orphis, now that you showed me how to do it. I was beginning to think that Coleman are losing their quality.

Nice...thanks for the information. My northstar was burning more like a candle than a star this weekend. Now it's back to lighthing up the camp. I found a small stainless detail brush worked nicely for scrubbing the inside of the orifice. I bent a half dozen or so bristles out to the side and inserted them inside the threaded section then spun with my fingers.

Thanks! Got one at the swap meet and only got 75% bright. Bought a new knob, thinking that may fix it. Nope. This 5 minute fix did it! Wish I saw this video earlier.

In order to remove the regulator from the housing simply unscrew the tube from it. Thanks for the video.

hello my friend, thanks for your tips. Now I also have a question, I have a Coleman 523 cooker, unfortunately there is black rust or gummed-up impurities in the tank. what is the best way to clean the tank? thanks in advance.

I broke the orifice (overtightened it). Can't seem to find a place on internet to get a new one. Would probly be cheaper just to get a used lantern at a garage sale then clean/fix it & swap parts. Also i have a few heaters which also have this problem. They seem to have smaller gas flow (smaller orifice). One heater stops working completely even after just a few uses until I clean it. Extremely small orifice. You cant get a wire or anything through. Only compressed air works which would be impossible to do while backpacking. Then it plugs up again after about a week. I think some crap got in their and plugged it up. So I swap it with another. They are all different sizes (#'s). I'd like to get a new one with a lower size so the fuel lasts longer while backpacking. But where do you get em? 😅
