    Please check 2:57 time drawing. When you start a cool engine the EGR is closed, so when EGR valve is stuck closed, then on cool engine idle can not have a rough idle, because EGR is closed on idle anyway.

    Would blanking off the egr damage the engine? If you can’t blank off how often would you have to do this clean, my Santa Fe 2010 GRDI has done 77k. And rough idles in start up but when you rev up the engine it goes away. Great video!

    I noticed the start after reassembly took a bit longer. In my EGR removal and cleaning resulted in no start after reassembly on a 1968 cc VW/Audi Diesel engine. What could be the reason

    G-Scan best tool I have bought, I did the same thing last week end, and guess what, I have to do all over again, one of the flaps had broken off and was missing, do you think it went in the cylinder? How would go past the valve? I also removed the bumper and cleaned the intercooler. Jason where in scan tool can I make the headlight washer come out so I can put the covers on? i40 2012

    Great job, guys! Very infromative, and useful. It does not matter, what type of car we have, if it was a diesel, it is hardly recommend to make these cleanings. Unfortunately, in Europe, because of the fcking EuroNorm standards, manufactures have to install so stupid things on the engine, that lies to save the enviroment, but it kills the engine in some years. Most of the owners do not know about the neccessery of the engine intake and EGR cleaning, however it is as neccessery as the regurally changing engine oil and filters. So Thanks again, I will make it on my car as well. 1 question: What is your opinion about professional carbon cleaning technology? What we can see on your video is the manual cleaning, but it is possible to clean the engine parts, by hidrogen gas, that become metan-gas in the engine during the cleaning procedure. So, in your opinion, does it work, or in every case it is better to disassemble the parts from the engine and clean them manually? Thanks!

    I think he was referring to an injector cylinder seal. They are made of copper and look like a washer. If they leak the upper injector o-rings fail you get a compression leak into the head; AKA injector chuffing. Some engines have a leakage valley/gallery between the the upper and lower injector seals that allow compression and/or leaking oil to escape the head, this helps with detection (oil and/or exhaust gases leaking out head) and reduces damage a bit.

    I would have cleaned the injector nozzles on a wire brush when fitting the new washers, and left the pipes loose at the injectors when starting prevent dirt from entering the system. Jim

    Hello i have a tucson 2006 2.0 L. Diesel. While i drive the performance is dropping(i think turbo isnt working) and if i turn off and then on the switch it goes back to normal. The check engine Light is on and i have P0401 code. Could be the egr?

    Great video, what chemical is the pre wash ? Anything special ? . I ask because I have done these jobs many times and that gunk has never come off anywhere near as easy as shown in your video. I do use a real old style steam cleaner as opposed to the hot high pressure washers everyone uses nowadays. Also I take it that the engine is turned over to close the valves when cleaning the inlet ports on the cylinder head ?

    Hello there! Thank you for watching! We hope we can give you a clear answer to the chemical but the local shop shown in the video did not want to share detailed information about the chemical they use. However, they claim that the hot high pressurized steam washer is what most likely cleans the carbon sludge on the parts, not the chemical. If you were asking the chemical used in the wash equipment prior to the steam wash, it's just normal water based part washer solvent commonly used in the shop. Yes, we noticed only no.2 cylinder had its intake valve opened, so if you look at 14:53, we connected air hose to no.2 injector hole on the block to blow out the chemical going into the chamber. Turning the engine over to close the valve and cleaning the port would be the perfect way for sure! :) Thanks for your comment!

    A bit confused about the intake port cleaning. I would have thought a lot of water from the steam cleaning would have gotten into the cylinders even with the vacuum or did I miss something?

    helpful video bro keep it up. btw i got a question, my hyundai accent 2012 crdi is hesitating when accelerating even when its hot or cold engine. and i noticed the EGR is intermittent. it opens and close most of the time. I;ve cleaned the EGR,Intake manifold,MAF,MAP,TPS, Waste gate, ECT, cransk shaft and cam shaft sensor, replaced MAF, replaced EGR assembly. Fuel rail sensor, fuel pressure sensor. but still EGR opens and close thats causing the hesitation. do have any idea whats wrong?

    Best efforts done new engine live . I have question . 1-Egr used to reduce Nox to help environment health 2-Egr used to reduce engine temperature 3-egr valve closed at idle and opened as rpm increases 4-Total amounts of intake air is divided by recirculation exchaust gas through egr valve and outside fresh air 5- at high rpm which one should have high flow rate egr or fresh air ? 6 -how l can fix stuck closed or opened egr valve depending on flow by using G scan2 data analysis Waiting your response with my best regards bro

    I guess only number 5 and 6 is your question?:) 5: At high RPM, flow rate from air intake through Variable Geometry Turbocharger must be higher than the rate from EGR. 6: To fix the stuck closed or opened EGR valve due to carbon buildup, the first thing you can do is disassemble and clean it thoroughly. You can then inspect EGR control motor for its resistance according to service manual. If the parts are out of spec, replace them. If you were asking how you can diagnose the symptom by using G-scan2 and 'Data Analysis', it is not easy for us to answer because there could be other symptoms as well. However, as shown in the video, you can select air mass and EGR control duty cycle and increase the rpm. If the EGR is working properly, as the rpm increases, EGR should be opened and air volume should go down as the inert exhaust gas is going through intake. However, if the EGR is stuck closed, air volume will not decrease even though the EGR duty cycle from G-scan is showing that EGR is opened. Hope it helped.

    as NOX is created above 1300 degC, on my opinion it's impossible for such small engine will emit exhaust gas temperature.

    had to change EGR pipe on iload it split apprantly Common problem soot in engine bay 192 thousand kays hope EGR okay 1100 to replace genuine I try and keep throttle body clean from soot and blow back sludge

    Not so sure about cleaning inlet ports like that unless you make sure all valves are closed so nothing gets inside the engine and that means removing camshafts and or rocker arms depending on the engine design, without making sure all valves are shut or turning the engine over to make sure each cylinder inlet valves are shut for cleaning this could end very badly. You sure as heck do not want that water or chemicals or sludge inside the cylinders. The sludge especially can bake rock hard and sit on top of the top ring and then start wearing out the cylinder as it travels up and down with the piston. Tp put this into perspective say you have an engine say a Chevrolet V8 with a 4 inch stroke that means every revolution to piston and rings travel 8 inches multiply that to say 1000 rpm at idle that means 1000 x 8 inches per minute travel up and down the cylinder, Then think about how many RPM to travel say 100 miles at an average of say 2500 RPM and suddenly the potential wear factor of all that sliding friction up and down the cylinder makes you realise just how important good oil and regular oil changes are long term

    Completely agree. I didn't think that was right. Hydraulic lock if all that water gets into the cylinders. I can't see how a vacuum cleaner was sufficient. I do each cylinder in turn with the valves closed on the compression stroke ideally TDC and block off the other ports.
