Dear Don: I often use distilled white vinegar to remove lime stains from my, gallon jars. It works best if allowed to sit. You can get it to sit a long time (perhaps 24 hours) if you soak paper towels in vinegar. This is a great way to clean one side of a tank every day. I’ve also tried cuttlefish bone as a scrubber, but found it less than effective. Raliegh of Fish Keeping Jamaica showed us that you can rejuvenate air stones by soaking them in vinegar for 24 hours. I don't plan on anything, that's just on of many empty tanks. If I expand my little fish room I'll use it.
