I recommend completely dissolving the Borax in water first. Or risk clogging your machine. I use Borax for ant sprays, and it doesn't always instantly dissolve.

The problem is now my machine smells like urine especially when it's turned on. I've tried putting vinegar and water in the dirty compartment and letting it sit for a day but it didn't get rid of the smell in my machine. Have you ever had this problem and if so what did you do to make the smell go away? If not, do you have any suggestions or know of any vidoes you can link me. I've been searching and can't find anything. Thanks.

After cleaning the carpet cleaner out I use parker o-lube on the seals. It's about $30 for a two oz tube on Amazon but it will last the rest of your life. So what i have read is sodium carbonate or active oxi and sodium borat or borax are active in the same manner. Both break into hydrogen peroxide. Which is your end cleaner. The difference is percentages. 56 to 52 in borax favor. So pretty much oxy is a improved borax in that it has added scents in it. And abrasive additives such as Epsom salt. Idk

The active ingredient in active oxygen (oxiclean) is sodium percarbonate. The addition of water to the sodium percarbonate creates hydrogen peroxide. Sodium percarbonate is also the active ingredient in color safe bleach. Sodium carbonate is sold as "washing soda" and sodium tetraborate is sold as "borax" do not turn into hydrogen peroxide. They are just detergent boosters.

2 ways, borax or Sodium tetraborate decahydrate, acts as a water softener which usually increases the effectiveness of existing soaps. I really can't stand reviews of products like yours that don't show the products effectiveness. You say that borax increases cleaning power but don't do a side by side comparison on a DIRTY carpet. Your title should say bissell fluff piece.
