Just found your channel! Awesome! What about newer machines (but still vintage)? Can sewing machine oil or the Blue stuff be used? I just acquired a two-tone pinkish-tannishFleetwood (yes, with fins). 1950 is the date in the instruction book. I haven't ventured to clean it yet. It smells old, appears to need a good overall cleaning and there are areas of yellow that looks like aged oil on the outer service in corners, etc. It is extremely heavy but I'm unsure what the surface is made of...the fins....(?)...plastic /Melamine?

Yes, Bluecreeper is VERY safe to use inside of vintage machines. It's the main thing we use in our shop.

So the BlueCreeper isn't agressive to the coating, decals or black paint? What about kerosine (which and old service manual by Singer recomends to use on moving parts that are "frozen"). They don't say to be careful with the paint, but I don't want to dissolve the paint or decals it inadvertantly 😅)

The reason I recommend and teach techniques using Bluecreeper is because it is probably the cheapest, easiest, safest product to use on old sewing machines. It will NOT compromise the paint, shellac, or decals (don't scrub!), if it's used inside the sewing machine, the residue only helps the machine, never hurts it (treats surface rust and won't allow old, hardened lubricant to reharden). Yes, Kerosene is safe to use on machines, but you have to consider the fumes to deal with and the flammability. My service shop used to be located inside of my quilt shop - NOT the place you want something so dangerous. I personally cannot handle the smell of Kerosene (even the 'scentless' has a smell that is hard to tolerate using it so much). The biggest downside to Bluecreeper: it can't be shipped to other countries.

Dumb question but if you don’t know you don’t know. I want to order the bluecreeper. When I go to the website what am I ordering? Do I order the bluecreeper SMO or the bluecreeper precision oil?

Not a dumb question! You want the lubricating cleaner with the precision tip.

Is Blue Creeper safe for fragile toy machines too?

Yes, I've used it on pretty much everything with success. I would be a wee bit cautious when using it on plastic with decals or sticker decals, things of that nature.

No no, never water anywhere near your sewing machine for any reason. As mentioned in the video, I only recommend Bluecreeper or sewing machine oil. Others will recommend Goop or GoJo but I've seen damage done with those things.
