Clean Hidden Hinge Install BEEFED-UP!!! on Jon Boat to Bass Boat PART TWO

What's up cuzins?! In this Part TWO video I take my CLEAN HIDDEN HINGE mod and BEEF IT UP on the #topgunjonboat .
I essentially take the concept from my original hinge video and modify the design to accommodate the needs of a heavier hatch lid for a casting deck on a #jonboattobassboat conversion. I demonstrate materials and tools used in a step by step presentation.
I hope you can take something away from this video and perhaps my boat and design methods can inspire your own build.

    For an easier route piano hinges are pretty well hidden and way easier and way faster to install. Plus long term they will last

    I had trouble finding a 1/4 inch piano hinge. Also the whole point was not tying hatches into the deck but tying into the framing. But if I did half inch decking I'd be piano hinging all day!

    Set the clutch on your drill and it will be even more consistent then hand torquing your screws. Practice on a scrap piece of hatch material to get the right clutch setting.

    Hey I'm curious which latches you used for your doors. I have a decent sized 3/4" thick door and contemplating using a stainless handle or plastic. Just wondering how you feel about the long term durability of yours.

    Looking good man. I hope they hold up long term.. I don't want to be a hater but I'm skeptical.. like you said they're small but if they feel good and are aligned perfect the pins and hinges should last a long time..

    I was skeptical too but just like my thin decking it's all in the construction process. If they suck ill let you guys know in my review videodown the road. They work greatthough,feel real solid, line up nicely. It's amazing what that bit of adhesive does to tie everything together a little bit better. Also, I baby my stuff so I'm thinking not beating the hell out of it when I use it will probably help. lol

    One is inset into framing under casting deck, one is built in to underside of livewell hatch, one is mounted to middle bench under decking. Follow on Instagram for detailed images of all. ADUBJONES on there

    Anthony Very nice brother. Question. Why would you not use quality grab pop rivet vs having to grind down screws ? Let me know If this boat comes up for sale. I want first grabs. Lol.

  • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats

    @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats

    I used screws to tie into the wood framing. There is wood under the metal around the livewell and the whole rear is wood framing. I felt it would work better. You never know, boat may be for sale to a serious buyer.

    Anthony Jones makes sense now. I should e known that seeing I’ve watched the damn build. Lol. Anyway. I’m serious if priced right. Priced right may not be the correct terminology of course taken in account the man hours put into a project like this.

    @@offgridwhitetails8768 Yeah man I know I'd never get the labor back. I'm going to build another boat though. Still figuring how I want to do it though. - Build a TopGun2 faster and better than than TopGun1 , keep it and sell 1. - Build 2 based off a client ordering it and I build it for them - or just build a simpler version of TopGun1 and sell it.
