join us on a look around Claymills Pumping station, a few of the Leigh Spinners engine group decided to have a trip down and a big thanks must go to some of the volunteers for showing us some areas that are and definitely are not normally open to the public, they are hoping to run all 4 beam engines later in the year for the first time in many years so keep a eye open for that video it should be a good un.

Hello! I found a lot of this video very interesting. When those two gentlemen were pressing the levers at 25:15 , what exactly was going on there? Were they manually opening steam valves to start the large beam moving up and down?

Yeah that's absolutely right with these be am engines you have to manually operate the steam inlet and exhaust valves to start the engine whilst it gets going.

on an engine of that size it's easier that way
Are the beam engines double or triple expansion?

Double expansion each engine has a high pressure and low pressure cylinder
