Claude Monet: A collection of 1540 paintings (HD)
Description: "Claude Oscar Monet was born in Paris on November 14, 1840. Soon after, his family moved to Le Havre, where he spent his youth. His acquaintance with Eugène Boudin lead to Monet seriously pursueing his education as a painter in 1858. Boudin and Jongkind taught Monet to always work in the field in front of his motif. The following year Monet went to Paris anyway to begin academic training.
He joined the "Akademie Suisse" and joined his later fellow painters from the Impressionist group, especially when painting together "en plen air" in the forest of Fontainebleau. Their constant struggle was to have their pictures exhibited at the official "Salon de Paris", where the conservative jury mostly declined their paintings.
Because of the lack of acceptance of his artwork, Claude Monet and his small family had to live in dire poverty for many years. In 1879 his first wife Camille, with whom he had two children, died.
Monet's art had meanwhile developed from withdrawn color paintings to form an independent Impressionist style. With his famous painting "Impression: soleil levant", Claude Monet named one of the most important genres of Avant-garde art.
Some art lovers, especially the art dealer Durand-Ruel, supported him financially. Very gradually, a market developed for his pictures. In 1883 Claude Monet managed to earn enough money to move to Giverny, west of Paris, where he managed to buy the house he had been renting in 1890. He now had a place to return to after his frequent travels and the garden of his property, which he later managed to extend, provided constant inspiration for his work at home.
In 1891 Monet painted the first of his famous series: the "meules" (haystacks) were followed by pictures of poplars and the river Seine, the cathedral of Rouen, the river Thames in London and many more. His exhibitions were great successes and Monet became a celebrated artist. In 1892 he married Alice Hoschedé, who brought more children into the family.
From the turn of the century, the water lilies on the specially designed pond in Giverny and the picturesque wooden bridge in Japanese style became Monet's favorite motifs. In 1911 Alice died. In 1916, at the age of 76, Monet started his largest project: the creation of the famous wall decoration depicting the pond with the water lillies (now in Paris). In the 1920s his eyesight deteriorated and he had to have surgery, but he still did his utmost to continue painting.
Shortly before his death on December 5, 1926 Claude Monet finished his water lilly paintings. Today Claude Monet is regarded as the most well known Impressionist artist. His late work is increasingly considered to be the precursor for the abstraction of the 20th century."

When I was a kid, I never really undestood this. But today...with so many self-proclaimed "artists" you see every day in twitter, instagram, facebook, you compare with those and look at arts from people like Monet, and t blows you away. Some of those self-proclaimed are okay, even amazing but in front of Monet's work, it's just different. On another level. Wow.

To see life through the eyes of an artist will leave you enthralled , surprised and fill you with wonder and excitement, cause to convey to the viewer that life to an artist is to capture every facet of it and present it on a canvas, where the colours, will capture your imagination and take you on a magic carpet ride.

I first saw Monet at the RI School of Design Museum in Providence in the 60's. Would take the train to Boston Museum of Fine Arts which had even more and sit there for hours looking at them, trying to understand how Monet did it. Monet is the reason I became a painter and am still painting, in my 70's, and continually look to his images for guidance. I was working on a piece just today and took a quick look at one of the Haystack Series for help. His atmosphere and light qualities are untouched by anyone else. He was also incredibly prolific. One of my first heroes. Last year my son and I were at the Chicago Art Institute. We turned a corner and there was a room full of Monets. It was like coming home. Thank you for this video. Looks amazing.

I remember first learning about Monet in art history during my freshman year of high school. I was instantly amazed by his skill and passion and he very quickly earned a spot in my heart as one of my favorite painters. I remember reading a quote from him and it has stuck with me since: "Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It’s enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.". I love how passionate he was with his art and how he still continued to paint even though his eyes were giving out. If you compare some of his earlier works to his later works, you can see how bad his vision became. It's a bittersweet feeling and I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

I am glad his "vision" of the world was not spoiled by the brutal devastation of the first world war! Think how terrible it would be for your life to end during that time, so it would be your final outlook on the world and its future! I am glad he lived into the mid 1920's, but not the Great Depression and the Second World War. 😌

Hello, Claude Monet. Thank you very much because I am happy to see beautiful paintings drawn by you. It made me feel love and live my life in this aesthetic world. Whenever I look at your paintings beside the beach, I tend to go back to my youth when I was confident in my work. Especially your paintings give me a lot of vigor to live actively and positively, feeling beautiful things to the last cell of my entire body. So thank you again, Claude Monet as a Korean who loves fine art and a variety of sketches as well.

Somehow I had a feeling that flutes would help to soothe me, but this video was even better than I expected. The music and reason are perfectly gentle and balanced so there's no startling dynamic changes, and the background scenery is beautiful and relaxing as well, so soft and still and comforting. As soon as I turned this on I felt the bodily tension and frantic thoughts melt away into perfect peace. My eyes are already closing. Thank you so much for this good medicine 🙏💜

These slide shows are invaluable. They illustrate the intention, growth, development of expression and a lifetime of hard work that each off these artists, Monet especially, demonstrate.

I like the way you present these masterpieces. No words or illustrations needed alongside. Just use your eyes, heart and human instinct, and you will feel the love and passion in life. Some artworks simpley depicted the normal corner of our everyday life but they were so fasinating that make me realise we often forget to appreciate the beauty around us. Thank you for putting this comforting video.

What people don't realize is that there are at least 1,000 paintings missing from this compilation! Such a prolific artist, no doubt one of the true masters of the craft. Not painting per se, but translating what one feels onto a blank canvas. Anyone can envision something, but to actually create that vision through a medium takes tremendous talent and skill. This goes for lots of things such as art, music, film, dance, plays, writing, etc. And all it really takes is discovering that thing you love and not just following that path, but creating it for yourself. A wise painter once said, "this is your world, you're free to do what you want." He wasn't talking about just the canvas, he was talking about life.

Monet's concept of light ,color , movement, pixels before pixels. He captured places ,people, moments just like a live action footage reel frame. simultaneously,a piece of time ,like remembering a dream ,or something like that. It's almost heart wrenching, like a fond memory for f my own being revisited.

Can't explain in words what looking at these masterpieces feels like..But one thing is common in all of them- I haven't seen any of these places but they all seem to be from my own memory...As if they were from some past memory which are slightly faded due to the passage of time..Thanks for this..
