At 11:54 , when he said "you can put the reed a little bit that way, and it will speak better," can you explain how he moved the reed?

Hello Saxologic, I think he means to pull out the reed until its tip sligthly goes over the mouthpiece front edge (to soften the sound). It's an usual fad with Delangle to tamper the reed in all directions, includin outflanking besides the mouthpiece. Sorry for the delay, we are old now, especially me.

What a fantastic post! Not only do we get to hear one of the world's great saxophone pedagogues talk about a standard piece, but we hear him *play* it too! (I don't think he's recorded the Boutry, has he?) Thank you so much for sharing it.

I think he just trying to find the problems of his saxophone. If Claude use his own mouthpiece and reed, there is no problem

That's why I don't like classical music for saxophone because you have to follow strictly what other mind was thinking at the time the piece was written down, and the sound make me fall sleep. Definitely I'm a JAZZ SAXOPHONE LOVER FOREVER ( Lester Young, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson .......... among others ) Freedom is Priceless everywhere even in the Music Language regardless that you have to follow certain form !!!!

Ana Flores I agree with you, but with classical when you play it the way it should, the piece can sound so beautiful. For example, concertino da camera movement 2, if you play it in another style then it won’t sound as good. But if you play it the style you can make it sound so beautiful
