Considering that I had a lot of free time due to the end of school, it took me 100 days to read the entire year. Multiplying it 3 times (3 School years), although the 2nd year is longer and the 3rd will probably be too And assuming I will live 50 years due to poor genetics I will be reading cote for about 2% of my entire life AND I WILL NEVER GET FUCKING BORED OF IT

You're the first person i've seen that prefers the anime to the books. And no, TG is not more complexe than COTE, not even close. And backstory c'mon... in one case we have Ayanokoji growing up in the White Room and being shrouded in mystery until Volume 0 releases, on the other hand we have Yuuichi scamming stupid adults as a child. I'm not saying TG is bad, i've read the manga it's definitely enjoyable, fun and interesting. But saying that it's more complexe and has a better backstory and psychology is just objectively wrong. But well, that's just your opinion ig.

His mother was a woman paid by his father to have sex with him and "produce" Ayanokoji. She doesn't care about what'll happen to him. His father throws him into the White Room, thinking "Well, if he survives it's fine, but if not whatever it's a sacrifice i have to make". The White Room is an inhumane institution that aims to make kids geniuses, whether they have good dna or not. They are not taught to behave like functionning human beings. Especially Ayanokoji who's from the 4th generation, the harshest generation ever. This generation "is level 10" (level 5 is considered the human limit, a curriculum that even the brightest geniuses should struggle to complete. Imagine what level 10 is like). My point is: Ayanokoji grew up without human touch, he was raised to become a machine, someone who could take over Japan without having "unnecessary emotions". That's where it becomes interesting. Ayanokoji HAS emotions, there's one monologue in the vol 0 where he says that he acted like an emotionless being to foul his father into thinking that "he was under control". And Ayanokoji, unlike Yuuichi, changed throughout the series. At first, he only wanted to enjoy his freedom in ANHS, he didn't wanna compete and help his class. He didn't wanna be bothered by his peers to use his abilities. He just wanted to enjoy the only 3 years he'd have in his life where he'd be at peace, because he knows after he graduates he'll have to go back to his father. However, things change. He started to develop bonds with people, he started to take interest in people, and want to help them grow. Why didn't he let Ryuuen drop out of school ? Because Ryuuen made him remembered his former self and wanted to help him grow. Why does he help Horikita when he has litteraly no obligation to ? Because he thinks she has potential to become someone successful. Ayanokoji set himself a new goal during his school time: he wants someone to defeat him, so that his father's education and thinking are proven to be wrong. Ayanokoji from volume 1 is a completely different character from current Ayanokoji. I could go on and on but i think it'd be a waste of time. On the other hand, did Yuuichi change ? Did Yuuichi grow up in the same environment as Ayanokoji ? I'm not saying he had a nice childhood, far from it. But you can't compare them, at all. Yuuichi's development is non-existent. Yeah, Yuuichi did everything for his friends, but his entire persona was like that from the beginning of the story, he just hid it by acting like a maniac. And his "friendship" was flawed from the beginning. Yutori wasn't "their friend", she despised Sawaragi, and was broken by Yuuichi. Their bond wasn't founded on mutual trust or anything genuine actually. So "saying it got destroyed by cunningness" is false, as there was nothing to destroy from the beginning. It's the only answer i'm gonna give you, it's worthless to debate with someone who's criticizing something he hasn't read. And i know you won't change your mind even if we were to bring you every argument about why Ayanokoji is better written than Yuuichi, because you're biased and you don't like COTE.
