I always remember what Young K said about singing this live because when he sings this part, all the fans sing/shout this part "Why am I alone?" in one loud voice all together and that just creates this oxymoron/opposite because you're shouting that you're alone in a sea of people.

"Instead of waking up from sleeping, I was waking up from sleeping on my emotions" honestly a real mood for all Day6 songs

If I recall correctly, YoungK said that the little marching/whistling section in I Need Somebody was supposed to be a representation of the darker emotions associated with loneliness (depression/anxiety/desperation/etc.) introducing themselves to the protagonist. So like, the first part of the song is a little softer and gentler and predictable (walking through life carrying the weight of loneliness), but then suddenly we see the protagonist being confronted with those darker and more extreme emotions. The march is like... we see this darkness coming for the protagonist, steadily and almost nonchalantly, before washing over and consuming the protagonist (the second chorus). Just when you think you're surviving, WHAM. One night, you just can't take it anymore. I'm paraphrasing here, but yeah XD

YoungK is a real gem. This guy can do wonders with his voice - one time he sounds delicate, then he sounds strong and raspy. He can sing high and low notes. He's a genius when it comes to harmonizing and he can rap. And he's a great songwriter and composer. He can do it all.

I see James' point at the end, about All Alone being more relatable, but I completely disagree. For me I Need Somebody always felt like it was talking from my very soul. Like it's an inner voice that just wants to scream out "Why am I alone". Especially Young K's first line of the first chorus, hearing the desperation into this emptiness they created just resonates with me. So I'd say, while All Alone is the sadness, and what other people expect it to be, I Need Somebody is closer to the reality. Great reaction as always, loved to hear the various impressions :)

This is so real especially for those who have been through depression and stress. Probably also other things but personally, I can only speak for those two. "I Need Somebody" is such an important song to me and every time I see them sing it live, I die a little bit inside of happiness and sadness. It just speaks to me on such a personal level. It doesn't matter if you have people around you. Sometimes you just feel so alone and like nobody gets you. I need someone who gets me and can get me out of this black hole, but it's not that easy. It's a art piece and my favourite song of all time.

Personally, All Alone has always been closer to my heart, even though I prefer I Need Somebody from a musical standpoint. The way I experience loneliness is calm, very much like All Alone; there's no voice in my head screaming for somebody, there's no rage, only this soft question of "wouldn't all of it feel better if I wasn't alone?". It's serene, it's melancholic and it's every bit the way I feel on most of my days.This just goes to show just how complex Day6 are as artists because they manage to speak through their music about a feeling everyone experiences, but in different ways and still make the listener feel understood. Day6 really makes music for every soul in the world:))

I agree with you. In my opinion, this "Why am I alone" give me the feeling from crying alone in your room. And when you are so frustated from the lonelyness and sadness in your life. "I Need Somebody" resonates to me more than "All Alone" too.

10:50 Us MyDay know that Dowoon is a good drummer but to be recognized as such by a professional really touched me. I'm so proud of Dowoon.

I still remember that I went to their concert because a friend of mine didn't have someone to go with, and to be honest, I fell in love with them. As a band they're awesome, Dowoon is a great drummer, actually all of them really captivate you. Now I'm waiting to go to their concert as a fan and enjoy twice as much as I did before.

I always hear other people complimenting sungjin’s raspy voice as the voice that fits into any rock/ballad songs. But when she said his voice sounds like violin i was like wow that’s a new interpretation and i ain’t complaining😚

"He sounds like a violin" When she said that i came to a realization 👁️ and i now understand why i am so in love with sungjins voice, for so long i kinda questioned why i loved his voice so much in every song day6 has put out (counting their covers, LISTEN TO STOP AND STARE). But growing up and even now i love and play the violin because the sound is just so beautiful and addicting to me..... and like I GET IT NOW🤡

I think both are relatable. And All Alone is lovely of course. But I definitely felt more from I Need Somebody. I cried hearing it the first time before we even had lyric translations. I think that kind of loneliness can cause a kind of angry or frustrated grief/sadness in private. So I think it’s definitely relatable to a lot of people. It immediately became my favorite song from DAY6. It was amazing to hear it live in concert😭

i listened to ‘i need somebody’ at night and it was completely silent. it hit so hard like that, and to this day it remains one of my favourite day6 songs. it hit somewhere that very few managed to. i need somebody, still, makes me cry, because the song expresses everything i want to say but can’t. all alone is also one of my favourite day6 songs, but for different reasons - it talks about loneliness, yes, but in a more ‘quiet’ manner, and possibly due to the more breather, tender quality of the vocals, the acoustic guitar, glockenspiel… it makes me feel less lonely, if that makes sense. it’s almost more comforting, as if… i’m not alone in my loneliness. in conclusion, young k is a genius, and i cannot thank him enough.

I need somebody literally, and I’m not even joking, destroys me. The lyrics, the feeling, the angst. Is such a good masterpiece and probably their best song without a doubt. Seeing them appreciate it just makes me feel proud somehow. They’re days when this song is on loop 14 hours because damn, some days you feel like that. Thank you for this video, good job guys. ♥️

I think "I need Somebody" is a good way to reach out to the people who feels lonely but even if they have people around them they can't just say "hey I feel so empty all the time". it's putting yourself out there and scream "why am I alone?" show your vulnerability and everything you've been hiding because it's hard to accept it sometimes. personally as someone who felt alone for their entire life I can say that this song broke while singing it, power of music I guess. thanks for the reaction tho I love them!

16:00 that's EXACTLY why I resonate with this song. I push aside my own feelings of loneliness and disassociate for the sake of being that strong shoulder that my friends can lean on. And every once in a while, when I'm alone in my room, a wave of sadness that I keep suppressed would leak out. "Why am I alone?!" is a refrain that expresses how I feel in those moments. Keeping the sadness underneath, but having waves of it spilling out, and the necessity of "whistling Dixie" (being indifferent and going with the flow).

I’ve been waiting for an I Need Somebody reaction for so long and it was totally worth the wait haha

For me, I still remember when they released the song in the album, I was listening to the whole album in sequence while doing school work and during the first 4 piano chords, I was like oh this is different softer starting and then I got hit with Jae's Hello, anyone out there? Where is (I could understand the korean) and I was like oh my.... and then he goes on and say "Answer me out there anyone" (it really does sound smoother in korean than translated to english) and that’s when I had to pause my work. And then the lines go on and young k's WHY AM I ALONE and the chorus. At that point in time, I was struggling to acknowledge my depression and anxiety and keep the struggle to myself. I also typically dislike talking about my problems so this song was literally an anthem. In the chorus, the way they sang the words in korean and where they put their pauses, ("why am I alone. surrounding me.... within people. why am i alone, left alone... now. I need somebody etc") really made each word hit and then the pause before the second verse kicks in made all those words sink in. And then with the second verse and the build-up, the whistling, and the louder chorus, it just kept hitting me to recognise this loneliness. AND THEN THE BRIDGE, with wonpil saying "oh now I got to do something". Seriously, when the song ended, I just sat there, stunned, feeling slightly attacked and a bit in pain.

I think the reason why I need somebody is so relatable is exactly because you rarely see people being open about their loneliness and putting up a front, so letting it out like that feels really powerful. One thing that definitely plays into how I see the songs is the emotions I've experienced. I've never really felt that… romantic longing and loneliness, so to say, but I definitely have felt pure loneliness. Those months of that lonely darkness, I've definitely wanted to cry and scream and let it all out when things would just get too much. I feel the I need somebody displays that really well, wanting to cry out for help while doing your best to just get through the day, and then the next, and then the next. The song is like a reminder and it helps me appreciate what I have now even more.

The fact that you picked these two songs to react to really brought me back to 2017 when these songs were released. I was going through one of the darkest times of my life, and both these songs were the only ones that really related to me. I remember listening to both these songs, and just bawling and letting out everything I had been keeping in. These songs will always hold a special place in my heart because they really got me through some of my darkest moments

I need somebody is such a raw song. The emotions are so raw and intense it's almost difficult to bear. I think it's one of the rare songs that makes me feel so much, so intensely. They really captured the emotions they wanted to convey.

All Alone is the song I listen to through my headphones while on the bus, it’s raining, I’m looking out the window, and it’s almost comforting in a way. While I listen to All Alone, I’m not alone in how I feel. I Need Somebody is the song I listen to while I’m alone in my bedroom, because I need something to trigger emotions I’ve pushed deep, deep down so I can cry it out by myself and deal with what I’m feeling or what the issues are. To compare the two, though while interesting, would be futile to me when I love both so much for many similar and different reasons. Thank you for sharing this as I’ve been able to enjoy these songs again through different perspectives.

This is really interesting because to me i need somebody holds so much emotion and makes me cry before i even notice it, whereas all alone is something i listen to while walking, it's something i reflect on memories and past emotions too, if that makes sense? I Need Somebody was my first DAY6 song that I ever heard. It found its way to me through Soundcloud at a time when I was really depressed. It helped me let my emotions out and just cry and feel proper emotion, rather than just numb and tears. I always felt really lonely, no matter how many people were around me and trying to make me laugh. I felt like the song understood how I felt, when no one else did. Because of that, this song holds a special place in my heart. It got me through a pretty hard time with my mental health, and it still does to this day. I'm doing better, but it still calms me down and helps me focus on what I'm feeling. It calms me down and lets me know that I'm not alone, that other people feel like that too, and it's perfectly all right. It doesn't make me weak to feel like that. It's human. I just have to keep fighting and shouting. It just lets me cry. In fact, I'm actually tearing up writing this right now, so that's great. For the whistling part, it sort of feels like a brief reprieve from the feeling of loneliness, if only just for a moment. Then, it sneaks up on you and hits you just as hard as before, sometimes even stronger. It gives you a second to breathe and feel hope, just to crush you and drown you in sorrow all over again. Rinse and repeat. The drum part, where you felt it was out of place, fits right in for me. Imagine the drums represent the strength and force of the loneliness. When it sounds like he is crying for help, and he's slowly getting quieter, the drums are drowning out his cries for help, keeping him from getting help. Eventually, he gives up and stops trying. The lyrics after that, I need somebody now, I feel, are pretty self-explanatory. You need someone to help you. You are trying to get that across with all of your might. But the loneliness and depression drown out any cries that you produce. Then, you just stop fighting because it feels useless, like you'll never be loud enough.
