I just researched it and this song/video is inspired by Ode to Pipa by Bai Juyi. Pipa would be referring to a Chinese instrument, like the one the dancer is carrying in the video. The song/video is inspired by the poem. The poet, Bai Juyi was exiled. Along his path, he met a lute/pipa player. The pipa player was also turned down by society. Both the poet and the pipa player share the theme of "falling from grace." Which would explain why the dancer looks so sorrowful. And maybe why she is holding the pipa. Because she finally found someone like herself.
