The Minnesota Lynx weren't serious contenders back in 2002, and in this August game against the Seattle Storm, they were still adapting to interim head coach Heidi VanDerveer after the release of Brian Agler, who coached the Seattle Storm to a 2010 WNBA title.
Seattle was on the rise with the pieces they needed to be a threat every season: Australian sensation Lauren Jackson and UConn's Sue Bird, who Seattle picked up in the 2002 draft.
The Lynx were already eliminated from the playoffs while the Storm were fighting to hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Although the Storm were favorites entering the game, the Lynx put up a fight against a team that was a cellar dweller before 2002.

Thanks for the old school WNBA upload. I miss my WNBA team, the DETROIT Shock. They were bascially dismantled by the move to Tulsa (from waives to trades to players who didn't want to play in Tulsa). I love Katie Smith's basketball play and don't hate her for NOT play with Tulsa AT ALL. She is a women's basketball legend in my opinion

@BrownBrother27 that saddens me cus im frm Detroit and that was my freakin team but they wann move them they was the top team of the East and i thought they were doing good money wise now players not even playin in the WNBA or didnt even wanna play in Tulsa Cause that Taj(ny), Katie Smith(was), Plenette, Kara, Shavante, and Alexis got traded, Sanni got wavied, and Deanna Nolan and Cheryl Ford basically said fuck the WNBA you got ride of my franchise
