I love these VW shows and hope to find some here in NC. Bought my first new VW in 1964 with my re-enlistment bonus while stationed in Germany. We drove that thing all over Europe for 4 years. I paid $1264 for it and sold it for $1265 when I brought it home to the states.

Thank you for sharing this adventure. I'm not into VW's myself but my best friend was. He had several VW project cars that he was working on.

In 1976 I was living in Santa Barbara and I bought a 1962 VW 23 window van for $350. In the mid70s VW vans were everywhere in California. I drove that thing everyday for 2 years and never put one dime into it I don't think I ever even changed the oil. I sold it in 1978 to a semi homeless guy for you guessed it, $350. He said he was going to live in it. I sold it because homeless people kept breaking into it and sleeping in it when I was at work on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara. Except we didn't call them homeless people in those days we called them street people. That was in the seventies, I can't imagine what the homeless problem there is like now. It was so bad by 1980 that I left the state and I've never been back. That Volkswagen was extremely dependable it always started it never broke down. Those 23 window vans are worth a fortune now. You probably mentioned that in this video which I have not watched yet
