Finally catching up with it at the age of 57, and I keep thinking, "This would've been _really_ boring to me 50 years ago." Really impressive writing, acting, photography, etc. They went to actual locations, instead of a studio backlot & soundstage. Even the effect of the aliens vaporizing in death was done well!

This series was great. It also scared the living daylights out of me. As a young teenager, I had trouble sleeping at night as I kept imagining an Invaders classic Flying Saucer was landing in our backyard, and they were coming for me.....🤣. The music was even spookier than today’s X-Files....😫

From u.k. The best line EVER from anything I’ve heard is. IT BEGAN WITH THE LANDING OF A CRAFT FROM ANOTHER GALAXY! What images does that throw into the mind of a 11 yr old! Loved it!

In the late 60's, I was a big fan of 'The Invaders'. I put together a plastic model of the flying saucer.

My mom and dad love this show so much. I got the complete series on DVD to give to them for christmas this year.

I hadn't seen this great show until METV started airing it this year. Highly underrated!

I helped produce the DVD set, securing interviews with the late Alan Armer, Larry Cohen and of course, my mentor Roy Thinnes. Paul Brownstein of the Perry Mason DVDs did an excellent job, except for the cover art, which strangely omitted the most famous icon of the show, the actual saucer. Could be they didn't have enough high resolution artwork. Also it is important to note that the original 35 mm prints were not available, possibly destroyed, so a second generation tape library was used and digitally cleaned as much as possible for the final DVD glass masters in 2008. Uber fans like myself kept pushing CBS Paramount, the company who purchased the TV Rights from Aaron Spelling and they relented in 2008 (April around Roy's birthday), putting together the interview with Roy and recording the 43 intros to each episode to be used on the DVD set. I helped write most of them. It was amazingly fun to work with Roy. We were in studio in NYC near the David Letterman set (now Colbert's set) for 8 hours at least, and by then the Letterman show had closed for the day or I would have hung out with Roy there. On another note, you got most everything right but Woodson didn't do the opening narration, just the interior. If you check IMDB, this is explained (Dick Wesson did the "the guest stars on tonight's episode" narration, Woodson voiced the interiors and in the saucer landing intro). Also, the theme and various first season music elements were done by Dominic Frontiere, who I was glad to speak to for years before he passed, but a huge chunk of the music was done by Richard Markowitz, Duane Tatro, Irving Gertz and Sidney Cutner. Markowitz especially for season 1. The music CD was finally released a few months ago by La La Land music after I kept bugging them LOL. Bottom line, I liked your video and the attention to detail.

I never heard of this show until recently, when they started showing reruns, on METV, late Saturday nights.

I enjoyed that series when I was a kid I even had The "Invaders" UFO Model Kit

I had a Invaders model which I hung from a tree limp, then laying on the ground took several pictures of it. Showed it to my art teacher who then gave it to a biology teacher (who also had his UFO club). To this day 40 years later I never told him it was faked.....

“A study in paranoia” yup they nailed that.

Before the Invaders, Roy Thinnes was known for his role in the soap opera General Hospital.

The Invaders was one of my favourite as a kid.

"Les Envahisseurs!" As it was called when released in France in the 1970s. I liked this series as a child, maybe because it is a great horrific tale with coherent sci-fi elements, relatable characters (even traitors ^é^), unique in its own way. Larry Cohen is a one underrated talented author. Thanks Mr Baak!

An interesting, highly informative video - thank you very much for the upload. I'm old enough to remember The Invaders' first screening here in the United Kingdom. Must admit that, as a little boy back then, the opening 'diner scene', eerie intro music and sharp narration scared me half to death...and that was before seeing the glowing red aliens and regeneration tubes, lol. Despite this, there was something magnetic, if not magic about the show, especially Roy Thinnes' convincing performance as hero David Vincent - what a great, polished actor he was. My parents didn't want me to watch the show, feeling it was 'too scary' for a kid (well, it was the 1960's, don't forget), but I still managed to hide behind the sofa, out of sight, or stand by the doorway, watching the show without them knowing. It probably gave me nightmares, but it was worth the risk to a fascinated, captivated child. Like many parents, I wanted my kids to see classic TV shows from my past, and I now have a 37 year-old son who owns the DVD boxset. Thinking about it, I really must get around to buying my own copy, too. The Invaders has only just completed an early morning run on the Horror Channel, so I've been recording the show and watching it at every opportunity...I think I have around six episodes to go. Anyway, it's been great re-living this genuine TV classic...and yes, that famed opening scene brings back the memories, though I no longer hide behind the sofa, of course! Great stuff - thanks again for posting this excellent video. Just keep a sharp look-out, folks, for anyone with a dodgy-looking finger, that's all I'll say! 😄😄😄......😜

I loved this show in the 60’s. Waited for YEARS for it to come out on DVD. Finally they released it,I was in heaven! Hadn’t seen it since it originally released on TV!

I watched The Invaders when it first came out and it was with out question the scariest show on TV to me but I always came back for more....I was 10 when it came out.

Absolute classic 60's TV , will never be dated .....watch it every time it's on TV

I LOVED that show and never missed an episode and then a couple of years ago found it on KZread. The way the world is now - I think they did take over because everything is topsy turvey!

Good ' ol Quinn Martin. After all these decades at last, I know what the man looks like.

My all time favourite science fiction show. That ship is one of the most sinister looking designs I’ve ever seen. Brilliant video.

I'm from Spain. My mother loved that show. She watched It with her brothers and sisters. She told to me about It with a big smile.🤗

It would be worth noting the brilliant editing pace shared with The Fugitive and Invaders:deliberately thoughtful, considered and also fast when needed. The craft level was world class and treated the viewer with intelligence.

Along with Space1999 the best sci fi tv show of its kind, A real classic gem.

The Invaders = the first X Files ever

This was a first class show. Roy thinness carried the part so well David was tough...hated injustice drove some classic ford's...had the company of some lovely ladies..and loved using that snub nose revolver...I used to think it should have carried on but I like the way it left us all up in the air...because now it lives on in our imagination and we can create unique outcomes in our minds

The Invaders... I grew up watching this show in the late 70s & early 80s in reruns. A fun , enjoyable sci-fi show. Very entertaining. RIP Larry Cohen. Great channel. Keep them coming. Thank you.

I loved watching this show in the '60s, especially since my Dad had the same Ford Futura as the one used on the pilot episode. My brother even had a UFO toy!

Loved this as a kid. The feeling you can’t trust anyone was really scary. Would make a great modern reimagining series.

I was born in the UK in late 1962. There was a whole raft of great TV for a budding sci-fi nut like me. The Invaders was one of them that I loved.

I was really in full SCI-FI mode back then: I watched THE INVADERS; THE OUTER LIMITS; THE TIME TUNNEL and other such TV 📺 programs back then. It was great growing up back in that era.

It never actually finished though. The Invaders were never driven from the Earth. I've even built an Invaders Saucer with lights and sound. Oh and it's Quatermass not Quartermass

The instantly recognisable doomed intro theme is a one off piece of modernistic orchestration from Dominic Frontiere

My late Father put me onto this 💎 a show he had a genuine high regard for-I watched several episodes and its a good suspenseful tv show with some future stars thanks for the doc Auckland New Zealand 2023

Great show. Really captured the Cold War ‘trust no one’ zeitgeist.

Great show. I was 13 when this first aired. It was always predictable when David Vincent finally got the cops to show up and investigate some building, the aliens would just push a button and the building would just glow red and disappear. Then the dialogue from the cops was something like "Mr. Vincent, this is the last time I want you to bother us. It's time for a rubber room for you."

Loved this show, BBC2 used to show it around 6pm, it was strangely melancholy. I would quite happily watch it all again. Will pick it up on DVD. Great insights Jonny

The Invaders was on BBC 2's *"Def II"* at 6pm wasn't it 😎And played its run of episodes prior to the eventual premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation in the fall of 1990 (it took too long to debut 3 plus years after the American airings in 1987). I'm right with you there man, came from that same era. Def II had showings of; Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in The 25th Century, The Man From Uncle (Sunday afternoons), The Invaders and Star Trek: TNG. And i also remember the Aeon Flux animated shorts they played after some of the American shows on BBC 2. On Sundays we'd also have the Irwin Allen shows airing on Channel 4 like; Voyage to The Bottom Of The Sea, Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel and Land of The Giants.

DEF II! That was the strand. that was pretty good as I remember. The early 90s, the golden age of 60s TV! Yes disaster-Meister Irwin Allen did some good shows. Whoever programmed this stuff had a ball!

Would rate the invaders in my top 15 TV series . Roy Thinness was so driven - like some later day conspiracy truther - always wondered why he never became really big later ?

Dawn Wells was in an episode. Love her. I own both seasons on DVD. I read somewhere that this series became so popular in France that it was shown in some movie theaters there.

The best SciFi series ever,each episode was based on an actual event.It’s as good today as back in ‘66.

When I hear the music from the following a feeling of happiness comes over me of being a kid and simpler times. The invaders, Lost in Space , The Time Tunnel , Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea , Land of the Giants, Dark Shadows and Star Trek . Man , do I miss it!

One of my all time favorite SciFi shows. I was thrilled when they finally offered the series on DVD,and they did a great job restoring it!

Since those were optical the typical AMERCAN, WHITE, MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE you see almost untill today not much changed by fashion and Zeitgeist this was no wonder.

I've watched it many times over the decades. Now in June 2020 I am watching both series again and it's still good.

I watched this show when I was a kid, the re-runs that is, back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I watched it again a few months ago on KZread and felt I was a kid all over again. I’ve always had an attraction toward the UFO subject since I was a pre-teenager, 10-11 years of age. And even more so as I reached adulthood and had a few close encounters sights myself. It was a good show and I loved it and I still do.

The shows music has just been released on CD by La La Land Records called THE QUINN MARTIN COLLECTION: VOLUME TWO - THE INVADERS (2 CD / 2000 Limited EDITION) (CD)

I can remember watching the series on RTE Ireland TV as an eight year old, it used to be on on a Thursday evening.

When I was a kid,I designed a house off of the shape of the saucer plus the Jupiter II,if I ever win the lottery, that is the first thing I'm getting...Perchance to dream...

This show was scary when I was a kid. The aliens were always a step ahead. The 2nd season seemed to even out where some of the aliens felt bad about what they were doing.

I own The Invaders on dvd, I watch a couple of episodes every once in a while.

Great video! I totally forgot about this. It was aired frequently in the UK during the 70's.

Obviously a very unusual Qiunn Martin production who was known more for cop shows than Sci Fi. It surprised me when I first saw the show who produced it. I was very disappointed when the show lasted only two seasons. I guess you could say it continued in the form of the X-Files.Thank you JonnyBaak for the upload.

I first saw this back in the 80's. From the title I was expecting a bad cheesy B movie, but I really liked it. It's now one of my favorite Sci/Fi movies. In the Mad Magazine parody of this the aliens picked their nose with their pinky finger. That was how you could spot them.

I watched this show when it first aired, and it made a huge impression on me. It hit home as a program that was taking its sc-fi material seriously, and not as a wild joke. Occasionally I'll watch a few episodes, and they're always great. Terrific drama. I'm baffled by the criticisms sometimes leveled at Roy Thinness for being 'too committed' to the character of David Vincent. That's just weird. His hard-boiled commitment to the character pulled me into the stories.

A MILLION THANK YOUS TO YOU. A MILLION more THANK YOUs. THERE WAS FAR TOO LITTLE OF THIS SERIES FOR ANYONE WHO IS A FAN. SO TO GET ANYTHING EXTRA IS A BLESSING ESPECIALLY to learn some episodes of X-Files have Roy Thinned. Hope he's a good character ..

When this show was popular in the late sixties, it became a sorta fad to stick your pinky finger out alien style while you were at school and freak your classmates out. Also remember getting an alien craft model set , a miniature to scale of the one on the show. Freaked my little sister and her friends when I placed it in the backyard where they would come across it. Cheap fun ! Long live the sixties sci-fi tv shows.

This was such a fun and cool show!

The Richard Anderson episode features the actor in process of reverting to the original alien native shape - "in process" being the salient term. It only showed a FULL reversion in the episode "Genesis", where an alien researcher fully reverts and must be temporarily isolated in an old-fashioned diving suit. He is then moved into a regenerating TANK - full of a saline solution that is being shot through with lightning-like electrical pulses - not the typical regeneration chamber. This was because full reversion to the native state is transformation into a completely non-humanoid form, which the script and the direction cleverly disguise through most of its scenes. The aliens' original form is utterly non-human and their native modes of reproduction, locomotion and communication are wholly unknown.

Another show I loved and was disappointed it was cancelled. like so many other good shows it was beyond people's ability to see and understand it in the 60s. Yet later programs like the X files did make similar concepts successful. I thought the movie "They Live" also had it's origins in this as did the "The Arrival." Some times I sure do miss the 1960s.

When I was kid this series THE INVADERS were my favorite. NOW TODAY MY AGE IS 64 YRS.

I got the DVD set but originally watched it on black white television in the 1967 1968 in western australia as a 8 yearold but never got to watch every episode because I was in the wheatbelt of country west australia and sometimes in bad whether we could no get a television piture.But I watched every episode when I got the DVD set.Its a wonder roy thinnes did not become a more famous actor he had good looks a good actor

La-La Land Records just released a 2-CD set of the music. Also available as a download I think (I dunno, I'm a CD guy).

Did not discover the invaders until 2018, I now own the complete series on DVD and was happy to spot an advertisement for The Invaders on a Bus Stop Bench in Quentin Tarantinos Once Upon A Time In Hollywood!

The Invaders, Batman, Mission Impossible, Star Trek, The Man From Uncle, The Time Tunnel and Lost In Space. Were all TV shows in that period which had great guest stars on'em without a shadow of a doubt.

As a kid, I couldnt wait for the burn-outs.

very nice job on this video.2 comments-1)the opening actually had two different narrators.the first narrator is the voice you hear in every QM series.he states the series title and later the guest stars.the second narrator is the one who relates the story-David Vincent has seen them.it all began on one lonely night while looking for a shortcut that he never found... I tried to find out who the second narrator was but so far have not found the actors name..2)Dominic Frontiere also was the composer on the Rat Patrol tv series.

William Woodson was the deep-voiced narrator that tells the backstory. Hank Simms is the one that lists the stars, guest stars, and episode title.

Sci/Fi Buff that I am... heard much about the series over the decades. But only ever caught the occasional episode here & there on various retro-networks over the years. One show that I thought was greatly inspired by it was the 'War of the Worlds' adaptation! But then, Quin Martin can be thanked for ALL TV Sci/Fi! Cuz if you think about it, the overwhelming majority of U.S. SF programs are 'The Fugitive' in a Sci/Fi setting!

I don't think David Vincent retired from his job as an architect after the pilot, as in season 1 Vincent uses his business resources for money and travel purposes. and did receive calls from his business corporation. With jobs and assignments he had put on hold, because of his alien investigations instead!

"Paranoia of communists in television and the movie industry." Maybe we should have been a tad bit more paranoid :)

I think I first saw it around 1989, when WDZL Channel 39 launched in South Florida. They ran cool shows that were not the typical reruns.

Remember the show well. Tuned in every week to watch. Hopefully I can get the Complete series on DVD. 👌🙋‍♂️🤗🐭🐭🐭

I watched this series first run I was 11 years old when it premiered. The show made a big impression on me. Years later Pizza Hut came out with their red hut logo and the shape to me is that of the alien saucer. So to this day when I see a Pizza Hut I think of the invaders…check it out! …in color!

I always made sure I caught the opening scene of the UFO landing. Good show for a time when there wasn’t much on tv about aliens. I mean, we were in the middle of a space race and landing a man on the Moon. Come on! LOL

This show is a reflection of our world, today. Can we trust our politicians or only our own senses. Are the 'Invaders' here, in our electronic, internet-connected devices and cars. "How does a nightmare begin....."
