A lot of people don't realize that when this was released in the 90s, it was actually meant to be a tongue-in-cheek throwback to the 80s and 70s commercials. It was in this style on purpose. I remember thinking at the time it was brilliant.

Bill Gates did say something similar to that though. It's meant to open people's eyes and get them to really that "lazy" people sometimes just work smarter and more efficiently, and not always "worse" than someone with more stubborn energy, often akin to beating your head against a wall. The wall's not going to give first. Your skull is. Sometimes stubborn energy is counter-productive, and these are usually the people bragging about "how hard they work" when they make their own existence and their own job 10x harder than it needs to be. That's not something to be admired.

I'll always remember Mentos because of this song. Their newer commercials are truly forgettable. This shit is classic.

I love these commercials. They are a little dumb but that's what makes them funny.

Seems like an outtake from an 80s afterschool special about just saying no to drugs.

The guy in suit should've taken a selfie on that bench.

How I imagine the interaction was between the employer and the guy afterward: Employer: "what's wrong with your suit? It looks like you sat in paint." Guy: " I did but I rolled around on the bench making these perfect pinstripes" Employer: "they're clearly not perfect, especially around your shoulders. Also the lines crisscross on the seat of your pants. Why didn't you just let us know what happened and go change your clothes?" Guy: " I'm proving my ingenuity and adaptability to any situation" Employer: "you look silly covering up an obvious mistake instead of just admitting to it. I don't think you'll be a good fit for the company. Good luck in your future endeavors." Guy "..."

When I saw this Commercial back in the 90's. I did exactly what this guy did to my dad's suit and I spun around with my 90's smile, and the mentos in my hand. Then my dad took my super nintendo and smashed it!! LOL..i was crying..LOL..but then he bought me another 1...Ahh mentos, and your troubling ways!! I miss the 90's :-((
