Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Genesis Model 2 video game system console. The Sega Genesis Model 2 is the smaller Genesis that was released in 1994. The Sega Genesis was first launched in the united states in 1989 with the model 1, the model 2 is much smaller, was less expensive and had a few things removed like the headphone volume control. The Genesis is known as the Mega Drive (or Megadrive) in Europe and looks more or less the same. All Mega Drive (Megadrive) games play on the model 1 and model 2, depending on if yours is US, Japanese, European, etc... There is even a Model 3 MD which is the smallest of the bunch. This video reviews the build quality and features of the Model 2 vs. the Model 1. There are hundreds of amazing 16-bit games for the Genesis like Sonic the Hedgehog, Revenge of Shinobi, Jungle Strike and X-Men. Your Model 1 controllers will work with Model 2, they have the same connectors. Check it out, see if buying a Model 2 Sega Genesis is right for you, or if you should pick up a used Model 1. SEGA!

I have a 1994 SEGA Model v2. It is my first console I ever had to play games on my old analog 1980's TV with a fake woodgrain turn-knob panal with a (Screw-On) analog antenna where I used to watch classic Cartoon Network before it was permanently on cable/sat as it is now. Unlike most modern consoles, it still works even to this very day 20+ years later on my game-rooms small tv next to my Gaming PC & Gameboy which I was playing my save of Pokemon Red. Overall, im happy I kept it all these years :) Edit: P.S there is no moding done to my sega ether, it still uses the orignal SEGA analog TV connector set to channal 4 and the original 1994 SEGA power brick the console came with :) P.S.S This WAS bought on releace day 1994 at my local game store by my dad, who then gave it to me :D
Just picked one up with 2 controllers wires and 4 games for $40. Awesome deal in my opinion.
My Older Sister still owns her Original Sega Genesis (Model 2) from when she was Little and I got to play it TWICE!!!!!!!!!!! She also still owns all of her Genesis Games from her Childhood
My megadrive ruled, i think its amazing how much depth you go into about one model, i think its great .

I am of the understanding that the Model 2 has poorer sound quality along with the removal of other cost cutting features. I would go model 1 all the way.
My cousin used to have the model 2. I would eventually buy it in 2010 at the Berryessa Flea Market prior to getting the HDG variant of model 1.
I used to have a Model 1 Genesis (not sure if it had the words "High Definition Graphics" on it) back in my young childhood years, though nowadays I have a Model 2, just for nostalgia's sake. :)
I'll be buying the Sega Genesis Model 2 this coming weekend. I have the Sega Genesis Model 1 which is a lot of fun to play games with, but I'm also getting the Model 2 version for my entire video game collection

Sega Mega Drive 2 was awesome! So many great games, amazing graphics for that time, I was super impressed. Loved this console.
I've watched the Classic Game Room of Silpheed, it's one of the reasons I'm getting a SEGA CD. It looks awesome for mid-90's, and who doesn't like blowing stuff up, in 3D! xD

Well I have this still, and by God is it amazing. I love absolutely everything about it, like how cartridges don't always work the first time or cartridges that are simply called 99 in 1 or 100 in 1. It's gotta be my favourite console I'm sorry playstation 1 but I just love genesis too much. I love your reviews by the way they're awesome
