Someone broke into our house and stole our Genesis with all of the games. When insurance settled with us, we got a CDX and it was awesome.

IgoByaGo Wow, that's both sad and awesome at the same time. Sad because you lost your classic Sega Genesis and games but awesome because the CDX goes for quite a bit nowadays and it also enables you to play Sega CD games along with music audio CD's and Sega Genesis cartridges like Mark said in this video.

Why was the CDX so awesome back in its day? For taking your console to a friend's house without needing a backpack full of adapters, a power strip, and what not. I never did like the Sega CD that much, but always loved the design of the CDX.

  • @RareDivers

If you own a model 2 Genesis, go for the individual CD attachment. Much more affordable. However, if you own the Model 1 Genesis, I would recommend going for the CDX, as the Model 1 CD attachments are much more expensive. Although you can get the model 2 CD to work, just takes a lot more parts.

+Dustin Nunn It originally was the prototype for the Sega Giga Drive/Sega Mars that SEGA of Japan had developed in 1991. They send it to SOA in Early 1993 with instructions to "design a stand alone prototype with System 32 Arcade chips for release in 1994". Fearing a retail flop and afraid of losing Genesis US marketshare, SOA instead designed an upgrade for Genesis called "Genesis 32" in the form of a Cartridge based attachment. Called "32X".

Probably the coolest combo console I've ever come across was a JVC X'EYE I found at a yard sale for ten bucks. Research tells me this was the American version of the Wondermega, and I absolutely ADORED it. The unit was tough as nails, and even though I bought it used I never once had an issue with it playing ANYTHING. The only problem I had was a lack of a six-button controller, but that was hardly an issue for the games I had on the thing (Mad Dog McCree a complicated game is not.) Anyone think Mark will ever get a hold of one of these? They seem to be pretty expensive.

I’m up late at night watching 1990’s video game videos. I’ve watched: #1. The history of 3DO #2 Why Saturn failed #3 a play through of SHINOBI X #4. A review of PS classic #5. A review of NES classic #6. A review of SNES classic #7. A review of TG16 classic #8. WHY DREAMCAST FAILED #9 CDi #10 TOP 10 WORST GAME CONSOLES #11 CDX I always wanted a CD X but when I was a kid $300 for one of these was kind of like asking your parents to spend $1000 now. It’s funny that now that I am 38 years old and I have so much money that I can go out and buy any video game console I want I still can’t bring myself to bring up enough desire to buy one of these off of eBay. I kind of want the CD X, the Turbo Express and Turbo Duo because I still have leftover advertising in my mind from 25 years ago It would be nice to have a single classic console with all the Master system, Genesis, 32X, Saturn, SEGA CD, and Dreamcast games on it.

Lol the 90's was also the best time to be a gamer. Yes there were some garbage consoles that didn't last long. But it was fun to see so many companies and consoles on the Market. I think Segas brain trust was trying to hard to see into the future with many of their console failures instead of focusing on what was in front of them. Often times when you see people trying to predict the future they have outlandish ideas...Like look at one French picture from I believe the late 1800's trying to predict the year 2000. It had flying fire fighters & stuff. You want to be innovative but not outrages.

From all the game reviewers/commentators/analysts I´ve seen on youtube I like lord karnage the best. you make the clips with a fresh and appealing approach putting things simple while remaining informative rather than turning them into a boring forecast report. although PC gaming is not the medullar line of your project I would like to perform a request as your never ending mission to review everything should include PC by definition, being it part of the everything. I would like to ask you to review Battlefield 1942 if possible including its both expansion packs and some mods like forgotten hope 0.7, it is a very addictive game given the online multiplayer experience but still I might not know some things about it. It is free to download and play as are its mods so that would not be an issue, Hope it can be done....... :)

Man, would I LOVE to get a Sega CDX! The problem is that they cost several hundred dollars on Ebay. And I doubt they're cheaper anywhere else.
