I-68 32 miles in WV and 80 miles in Maryland of nothing but ups and downs and hard pulling a lot of work on engines transmissions and brakes But Orwell did the job stay safe Steve

I-68 is tough!!

I68 in Maryland is a tough one. There's a sneaky 6% grade there. You climb really fast but when you get to the top it's a 6% downhill. Run away truck ramp half a mile down the hill.

Orwell gets the job done once again.

The wonderful sight of Orwell rolling coal each and every time Steve shifts gears never gets old. Plus the turbo whistling his merry tune.

Hey, Steve! I passed you and Orwell as I was going westbound on I-68. What a thrill! Coopers Rock mountain slows a lot of traffic! That whole area is my stomping grounds..

Orwell is the most powerful workhorse that I have ever seen, she is a really strong truck to hauling those heavy loads and yet she pulls it with ease, I just love that cabover.

Definitely not breaking any records power wise, but trucks then were geared really low to make up for lower engine power. It's why Orwell is pretty much geared out around 70

@@devonte3062 I knw that,, but it's ALREADY HAD a few upgrades!!!!! Not Anything wrong with a few more upgrades on it. Thats what many of us do to the Old School Iron out Doin Da Deal still. Have U ever seen Rodeo Reeds Channel he has an 88 Pete 379 with B-model Cat 15spd 3.55 rears & done a Few upgrades on the mechanical Cat also putting approximately 650 hp hauling cows,hay, farm equipment out in the West Coast. We've done the same with our 84, 93, 95, 97, 2000 model W900L with Cats also

Seeing you travel the mountain Hwy near Cumberland, MD., triggers memories. Lost a B-52 ( Broken Arrow ) there in a snow storm in '64 if memory serves.

Never mind, I looked it up. That was a really big broken arrow- two 24 megaton H-bombs. If they both had went off, there would be a crater nearly 6 miles across.

Was going home after finishing a well in Monesson Pa remember running a 110 drag racing to get home after a week and a half being away from home lol

68 and 70 i have to say is ass road you can take your time and be careful but then the 4 wheelers get infront of you then slow down for no reason. We you being heavy it hurts you going back up the mountain. Jen Chris and yourself are doing one heck of a job on your channel, all that hard work is paying off myfriend congrats

Hey our's does also struggle climbing mountains. Doing that during the winter is better cause engine doesn't get hot that much.

68 is got to be the longest 114 miles east of the Mississippi but I’d rather be going east bound on coopers rock than than west especially in the snow 😉

Used to go to Versa Paper in Luke, MD out there off the Frostburg exit. All the way south to the bridge crossing into WV. Make a right plant's on your left. East branch of the Potomac river runs alongside the property. Probably 8-10 feet wide and couple feet deep. Few would think of mountains and countryside like that when you mention MD. Run that rte with a 13 axle setup. Takes forever lol. Winter time is even more fun on I68..

Please give us gauge reading. Am sure you monitor temp gauges, pyromitor, air intake, tranny temp, differntial temps, etc. Heavy loads in mountains are a big challenge for a collector classic tractor trailer. I heard you say you got most of your gauges working.

US-40 runs parallel to i68...that's why 68 is a roller-coaster similar to 40..

Run a shop close to 68/79 interchange if you ever need anything

Hey Steve just a little advice whether you take it or not try to take it easy on the monster drinks and or any kind of pop like Mountain Dew the wife used to be an owner operator and she got hooked on that monster and now she's fighting diabetes which having the monster and the Mountain Dew to give her energy and keep her awake driving out there didn't help matters later on in life just my advice thanks

Why don't they promote these diesel electric units like the ones that destroyed steam in the 50s and Early 60s a diesel engine has to provide power to an electrical generator that makes this junk move

Doesn't matter if you run shipping or Hot shots, you can't beat the price to get a load.There aren't such large margins on the shipping price that you can always afford to be the cheapest.Refuse shipping that you can't get the money you need to drive.

If you want to be competitive in todays world you will need to rip the guts out of Orwell and replace it with a big 600 hp engine with the appropriate high speed drivetrain that can handle all that extra power. If not all you are doing is spinning your wheels. Orwell is 50 plus year old technology and has no place on today’s highways as a daily dollar generator. I remember back in the day downshifting and crawling up some of those dam hills while everything passed you.
