    although i rode CZs then Maicos starting in '70...Bultacos were always up there ...after 74 (i believe ) they redesigned the Pursang frame and fork tree.pulling the fork tree into a design similar to Maico and Czs. From what i recall the older Pursangs were awesome on flat sweeping tracks and circle track courses. but front ends couldnt plant like a CZ or Maico...one of the nicest handling era bikes i ever rode was a 76 250 pursang

    Bultaco's and Montessas were beautiful bikes. Watched them race on TT track at Ascot in So. California, late 60s early 70s. Loved the smell of 2 stroke smoke in the air.

    Had a buddy back in 1971 who rode his Bultaco back and forth to school every day rain or shine. About 40 miles a day. He was a real funny dude and we nicknamed him "Buford Bultaco". Buford was sumthin else!

    You know your Bultacos I had a 74 250 Persang. It was out of the hole faster than my RM370. Top end Suzuki, suspension,brakes, Suzuki ,as for the fastest bike to flip me time and time . Bultaco would kick my Suzukis ass . I owned my taco for 20 something years never knew other numbers on it. I bought it from my brother-in-law. It damn near killed him,it sat on a milk crate for years before I bought it. His best friend bought the 360 . Jerry still has it but I know he hasn’t started it in 40 years. He afraid of it and he WILL not sell it. It’s 14* Fahrenheit in upstate New York. Have a great day.

    The second bike if restored correctly would be a MK3, model 48. MK2 had monobloc carb, up pipe and no side screws on rear fender.

    I bought a new 125 Pursang in 1972, I sold it this Fall. All my other Bultacos went too including a 1973 360 Astro. I saw this video and now I’m a little sad. Thank you… I wish Senior Bulto had kept the company together.

    JB I’ve got a nearly perfectly restored 72 Pursang 125. It won “best race bike” trophy at a show in Colorado a couple of years ago. Might have to sell to pay for a knee replacement. ( I’m 76yo).

    I first learned to ride on my dad's ~73 Sherpa T 250, then graduated to his Pursang 250 that he won trophies on. Beat an ~ 1993 Suzuki 450-whatever 4-stroke in a race. These bikes kicked some ass.

    Bultaco name was a mixture of the last name and the first name of the founder and owner of the factory, Mr. Francisco Bultó. Pursang means a Pure Blood horse in Catalonian language. Pura Sangre in Spanish. The symbol of this model is the head of a horse.

  • @framegrace1
    @framegrace111 ай бұрын

    That red one was the first "pursang" (true blood) with that name after the "metisse" (mixed blood in french). Named "pure blood" because was integrally designed by Bultaco, instead of the "Mixed blood" which had a Bultaco engine, and a British chassis designed by Bob and Derek Rickman. (That's also why they are the only Bultacos with french names)

    The 77' Pursang looks like it has never been used ! I don't think that is a restoration. Some things might have been made nicer than showroom floor bikes. 😁

    Hi Raymond - I think it has been restored. The seat doesn't have the original seat cover. They have done a great job. I am currently restoring my 77' Pursang 370 and hoping it will be similar to that beautiful 250 on the video.

    The Pursangs were never that nice, the factory quality was way worse than those restorations, I saw them new, they were rough. But that's what Bultaco owners liked. I rode a Chispa when I was 7, then I rode a sherpa (my uncle's), but then switched to motocross racing aboard a Puch (at 13).

    No Alpina damn! I used to ride dirt bikes down here in Louisiana back in the 70's. The 3 bikes I rode during that time and price I paid for them. 1st Hodaka 100B bought new $285. 2nd Bultaco Alpina 250 bought used $350. 3rd Yamaha IT 175 bought new $785. I could kick myself for not hanging on to all 3 of these.

    My favorite bike 74 250 Persang had one. The rear end raced the front end every where and won a lot . I’m 6’3” 220 lbs . It would flip you so fast.Got tired of coming home and something was broke. It was me not the bike. I still miss it.
