Great video thanks, brings back good memories. Travelled Down to Reading regularly from Nottingham. Train spotting at its best. All you would see today is units after units. 👍

Yes not the same now. I was working somewhere around London in those days so Reading was an easy spot for me! Hope you have seen some of my other stuff.

Lovely vid. This was a favourite haunt of mine back in the 70's. Then the main traction were westerns and 47's. Very occasionally a peak would turn up on the York Poole working. Latterly a pair of 20's were rostered on a working to Early power station. Never saw a 37.

pity reading station is not like this now. i did loco spotting in 1966 and saw a blue pullman

I don't think any station would be like this now. They were certainly the good old days for sure!

Can't get over how busy the railways were for loco hauled trains

The Oxford to Paddington services would be replaced by Thames Turbo units within eighteen months of this.

Didn't know there were Network South East services that didn't stop at Reading :P

Great video, can I possibly ask what equipment you used to transfer from VHS to computer, I am looking to purchase this week, dozens of VHS video to share, thanks.

Hi there I got it professionally done by a company that specialized in such things as they were able to clean the tapes up first so increasing the quality!

I wonder if anyone in 1991 would have thought that 5 yeoman sheds and 4 more on the way would suddenly lead to hundreds of there descendants arriving from just 7 years later.....

Well I remember there was plenty of talk before and when they first arrived but they soon proved themselves particularly with there reliability which was far superior to anything else!
